Secretary Kerry Announces First Grant Winners at President Obama's 100,000 Strong in the Americas Partnership Launch

“…the United States will work with partners in this region, including the private sector, to in­crease the number of U.S. students studying in Latin America to 100,000, and the number of Latin American students studying in the United States to 100,000.” 


One of the winners was the University of Arizona in Partnership with the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Perú and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile The University of Arizona seeks to create a sustainable umbrella organization for STEM-focused student exchanges related to sustainable resource development.

La iniciativa del Presidente Obama de estrechar más los vínculos con Latinoámerica tiene su componente académica en el Programa "100,000 Strong in the Americas" que promueve las alianzas estratégicas y el intercambio estudiantil entre universidades de USA y América Latina. 

 

Los primeros 4 ganadores de estos fondos (de más de 100 solicitudes recibidas) fueron anunciados por el Secretario de Estado John Kerry este 17 de enero en Washington, siendo una de las Universidades beneficiadas la Universidad de Arizona quien tuvo como socios estratégicos a la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú y a la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. 

 

Otra Universidad peruana beneficiada de estos primeros fondos es la Universidad Nacional de trujillo quien participa como contraparte de Northampton Community College.

China was the world’s largest economy until 1890 before America surpassed it. By the end of 2014 China is on track to reclaim its crown.   Comparing economic output is tricky: exchange rates get in the way.
