The Key Benefits of Content Curation by Beth Kanter: Presentation + Curated Tweets

Robin Good: Here is the official presentation that Beth Kanter delivered yesterday, accompanied by a curated bundle of user contributions (mostly tweets) and relevant resources (stats, some visuals and other resources) outlining the key benefits that content curation can bring.

To do so, she used Storify.com which allowed her to pull in the most relevant and interesting tweets that had been posted during her webinar, as well as other relevant resources on the topics she covered.

My three picks from this Storify bundle:

- Mindless sharing is not content curation (Dara Goldberg)

- RT @ntenorg: Good content curators don't just share or collect links, they explain & make sense of a particular topic for others. (Steve Heye)

- ...@hjarche Seek-Sense-Share (PKM) model, he offers an online workshop bit.ly/HPV07M

Robin thanks so much for highlighting the storify summary - I did that right after the session because I wanted to do a quick content analysis of the tweets and see what resonated. I also did the same for the chat logs so I could gather up the questions and make sure they were answered. The session was based on an article I wrote recently on why content curation - real content curation as you describe it - can benefit nonprofits. How it can enhance staff expertise and reduce information overload. Here's a blog post that wrote sharing some of the other resources, including many of yours. http://www.bethkanter.org/?p=5690

Curate Your Event Twitter Hashtags with Hashcaster

Curate Your Event Twitter Hashtags with Hashcaster | Managing options | Scoop.it

Robin Good: Hascaster is an automatic Twitter hashtags news curation tool, capable of simplifying the process of managing a public page covering a specific hashtag and of giving dedicated tools to curate, highlight, measure and monetize the user-generated stream.

Key features include:

-> Manage & lead your hashtag community
-> Capture & curate tweets in real-time
-> Track your event & monetize your audience

From the official site: "Hashcaster is an advanced curation platform for Twitter that helps event organizers manage their hashtag community, capture valuable user generated content, measure and monetize their audience.

...

Referred to as a "Hashcast", the platform curates in real-time photos, videos and stories from the event's hash tag community as it trends on Twitter. It then pushes this content to an event branded web site."

Example: http://smc.hashcaster.com

"The Hashcaster platform determines "who and what" is most important to the hash tag community; making highly valued content more visible and helping the community connect with top influencers."

Example: http://psw.hashcaster.com/home ;

P.S.: The only question is: how does one get an account on Hascaster. The site seems not to provide any info on this. Can anyone help?

Good Morning Robin,
I read your last question.
I posted about Hashcaster in September 2011, http://bit.ly/orNuYc
From original article that I curated http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/real-world-events-go-real-time-on-hashcaster-a-web-and-mobile-twitter-curation-platform-for-event-organizers-and-marketers-129410203.html I read this:
"Hashcaster is presently beta testing the Hashcaster platform with a select group of premiere events throughout the U.S. If you would like your event to be considered for our beta program please contact Geoff Clendenning at..."

Then, maybe, the service is still in beta after these nine months.

Good morning Giuseppe! Evidently you have done a much better job than mine in research and verifying this info as I was not aware of the original launch. Re your point about their Beta program, it may very well be. You only need to write to them to find out.

Hello Robin,
it is always a pleasure to have with you a mutual comparison to improve our user experience.
