Social Banking

Social Banking | Managing options | Scoop.it

The time and energy we can invest in others socially – in terms of building and maintaining friendships – is a lot like money; we cannot spend it in two places at once. Given that we have a limited budget with which to build and maintain relationships, it’s of vital importance for some cognitive system to assess the probability of social returns from its investment; likewise, individuals have a vested interest in manipulating that assessment in others in order to further their goals.

8 Content Marketing Goals Worth Pursuing

8 Content Marketing Goals Worth Pursuing | Managing options | Scoop.it

No matter what business you’re in, content marketing is integral to keeping your brand relevant in a fast-paced world. If you’re not quite sure what content marketing is, it’s generally defined as any marketing format that involves the creation and sharing of media and publishing content in order to attract, communicate with, and thus acquire customers. The information can be presented in a variety of media, including news, videos, white papers, e-books, infographics, case studies, how-to guides—you get the picture. Content marketing has been instrumental in all our endeavors. We’ve personally found it to be an invaluable way to uniquely position a brand into the public zeitgeist. That said, content marketing is only effective if you have a plan and clearly defined goals at the onset. To guide you in the right direction, we put together a list of eight effective content-marketing goals that are worth having.

The difference between content marketing and content strategy

The difference between content marketing and content strategy | Managing options | Scoop.it
The difference between content marketing and content strategy manifests in the way you conceive, create, publish and then distribute your content.

Suppose you want to reach a destination “A”. In order to reach “A” you start walking and let us call that walking content marketing. Content strategy is the path that you take to ensure a safe and speedy arrival at “A”. If content marketing is an action, then content strategy is the brain behind that action.

Strategy, as we all know, is a series of actions that we take in order to arrive at a desired result. There is no use performing tasks without having an idea of what you need to do, at what time, for whom, and how.

Does content marketing precede content strategy or is it the other way around? Ideally, it is the other way around and in fact they both need to go parallel. But if I work for you, I would start with the latter.

As I have found with my own content your strategy will change based on your readers input and traffic analysts.

Setting your goals but leaving room for other options can generate new revenue sources.

Greaty note from Brian about starting in one place with your content, watching data and ending up in another. Leave room for pivots, tweaks and things that go bump in the night.

Jonathan Haynes, Tdf Consultants, "Good point, but wasn't it always thus, albeit on a more basic level.  Traditionally the best marketing has always been that which empathises with its intended customer base.  Engagement is merely an extension of this." www.tourdeforceconsultants.com

Fabrizio Faraco's curator insight, May 17, 5:24 AM

Collaborative marketing will mean that marketers truly shift from marketing “at” consumers to marketing “with” consumers. We have reached a tipping point where a penalty will be paid by those companies who simply view social as a mass communication channel for blasting out messages to a mass audience.

KEN'S KEY TAKEAWAY:

This is an important look at the need for curation and digital media literacy. I like that it goes deeper than just 'information overload' but also mentions how we tend to limit our spectrum of incoming information because our friends are proably sharing the same things as 70% of the rest of the web.

Is There Value in Enterprise Gamification? - Part One - Enterprise Irregulars

Is There Value in Enterprise Gamification? - Part One - Enterprise Irregulars | Managing options | Scoop.it

Over the next few posts I’ll explore the growing use of enterprise gamification. I became interested in the topic after an interesting keynote at IBM Connect this year by Jane McGonagal, author of the book ‘Reality is Broken: Why games make us better and how they can change the world”. I have to admit that while I “get” the concept of using game theory to shape behavior I was skeptical about how useful it really was in an enterprise context. I’ve spent some time over the past few weeks researching the topic and at this point my attitude has shifted quite a bit. When used correctly I now believe that gamification can provide a powerful tool to help companies encourage behaviors that they define as desirable.

I don't like driving into a landing page with nothing other than a download call to action, but this Hubspot deck is worth making an exception. These stats are helpful, beyond helpful.

My favorite is this one that corrects the belief that using social media less promotes more engagement when the opposite is in fact the case.

Pull back to tweeting 2x a day, a suggestion that was made about a year ago for Atlanticbt.com's social schedule and you will only receive 57% of the LIKE and 78% of the comments.

Schedule doesn't create engagement your content DOES, but all things being equal don't let the uninformed push you into bad decisions about schedule.

- Content Discovery:
Find news, features, videos, and more to repost on your site. And it's free.

Repost allows you to republish complete articles (including images, links, & multimedia) anywhere quickly, easily, and legally – just like video.
With Repost, you can distribute your content to other publishers, bloggers, and websites. You can also discover a broad range of content to repost on your own site. Whether you’re distributing, discovering, or both, why do you need Repost? That’s easy: More readers, more reach, more revenue.

Repost: it’s syndication reimagined; it’s the wire service reinvented; it’s changing the way content goes viral."

Excerpted from review article on Mashable:
"Repost.Us, a free service that launched earlier this week, provides publishers with a platform to share and embed full articles in the same way that YouTube lets users embed video clips. Websites can add a Repost button to their articles, which others can click on to re-publish all of the content in the article — along with videos, the original publisher's advertising and branding, and any updates to the article that occur afterwards. Repost also provides a directory of content that publishers can search through and publish on their own website.

In short, the goal for Repost, is to make it easy for big and small publishers to profit from sharing complete articles as it is for content producers to share and profit from videos using the embed code from websites like YouTube..."
