The consequences of incentives

The consequences of incentives | Management et organisation | Scoop.it

I want to share a story with you.
Its a story about how an approach to ”incentivizing” professionals turned a highly functioning team into a team focused on ‘checking boxes’ and functioning as a group of individuals rather than a team. This is a true story…and happens more than most of us really want to admit.

• The improvement strategy that can lead you on the right path toward everything else
• Two most common failures of the plan-do-check-act process
• The type of learning you really want to see in your organization
• Two key factors that make leadership so critical to successful lean transformation
• How to define lean to get everyone in sync
• How to adjust current practices for understanding current reality to get better outcomes
• Why people struggle with lean behavior and how to address it
• Why lean is an inside-out transformation"

Taking a Stand at Work

Taking a Stand at Work | Management et organisation | Scoop.it

The notion that production work should be done standing has been controversial in Lean implementations, and resisted in particular by experts in ergonomics. Now several health researchers are saying that sitting is about as healthy for humans as smoking.

This article is about Anup Kanodia, form Ohio State's Center for Personalized Health Care, and his recommendation to reorganize offices for stand-up work. See also NASA's Joan Vernikos's Sitting Kills Moving Heals (http://amzn.to/Rivvlf)

"There’s often a very subtle difference between those who lead and those who lead well – those who lead well are very forward focused. If you’re more interested in protecting what is than you are finding the answer to what if you might be in a leadership role, but your likely not leading well. Order isn’t all it’s cracked-up to be. In fact, I’d go so far as to say routine is the great enemy of leaders."....
