“Voluntary attempt to overcome unnecessary obstacles”—the definition of a game by professor and author Bernard Suits in his book The Grasshopper: Games, Life and Utopia.

Gamification involves adding game elements and game design techniques to non-game contexts to enhance a task. In work settings, the goal is better outcomes, including a better experience for employees, a la the participants or players.

What’s the value of a good boss? When the boss is a CEO, that question has been closely scrutinized. But the role of less exalted front-line supervisors—the folks who directly oversee teams of workers—has been overlooked.

Return on Individual - the real benefit of employee engagement

Return on Individual - the real benefit of employee engagement | Management et organisation | Scoop.it
I've obviously heard it used in the context "return on investment", but not in this context. It seems so obvious that I feel I should have been aware of it before. For me it's a powerful expression of the benefit of employee engagement. Ultimately isn't having engaged employees about growing their contribution to the business OR increasing the return on individuals?

10 Good Reasons Not to Trust Your Brain

10 Good Reasons Not to Trust Your Brain | Management et organisation | Scoop.it
If the human brain is such a marvel of evolution, why does it so often betray us into making poor decisions and acting foolishly?

The human brain is a marvelous tool. However, it was designed for a very different world than we currently live in. As a result, it retains many design flaws that do not serve us well, especially in today’s business world where new ways of thinking and ongoing innovation are essential for success.

Perhaps the most damaging flaw is the brain’s tendency to think it’s right. In fact, it often insists it is right even in the face of contradictory evidence. So the next time you’re absolutely, positively sure you’re right, consider these 10 reasons not to trust your brain:

Change Management is an Oxymoron – Jim Clemmer « mick's leadership blog

Change Management is an Oxymoron – Jim Clemmer « mick's leadership blog | Management et organisation | Scoop.it

A dubious consulting industry and “profession” has developed, claiming to provide “change management” services. Those two words make about as much sense together as “holy war”, “non-working mother”, “mandatory option”, and “political principles”. Many of the books, models, theories, and “processes” on change have come from staff support people, consultants, or academics who’ve never built a business or led an organization.

J'adore : "If you can’t manage your time and discipline yourself to devote at least ten percent of your time to personal improvement, you don’t deserve to be a leader. You deserve to become a victim of the changes swirling around us."

Intéressant point de vue dans tout l'article.

À quel point êtes vous prêt à repousser vos propres limites ?

À quel point êtes vous prêt à repousser vos propres limites ? | Management et organisation | Scoop.it

My thoughts:

I have noticed that i am stressed often. This is really no fun, i hate being stressed. This article informed me of some ways i can cope with it. I need to find someone i can talk to about myself. Keeping thoughts in will just cause more stress that i dont need. Also eating healthier will reduce stress. Taking a breather and maybe even doing yoga will help me deal with my stress. Stress is very bad for you it can actually affect your health and being this young i shouldnt even need to stress about anything.
