The 10 Things You Must Do to Make Hiring Top Talent No. 1

The 10 Things You Must Do to Make Hiring Top Talent No. 1 | Management | Scoop.it

Over a 10 year period from 1991 to 2001 my firm made over 400 presentations to groups of CEOs at emerging and entrepreneurial companies. The presentations were largely the same. All focused on how to select people to grow the company.

One big idea was to map the types of people the company was hiring to its business strategy. The other point, while not as grand, was more important: If hiring top talent is important to your company's growth make this the primary measure of how you reward and promote your hiring managers. Although 90% of the CEOs believed in the concept, few did anything to make this part of their company's culture.

Our researchers mainly follow the principles and rules laid down by the above important policy and rules.Under Articles 2.4, 3.6, 3.10&11, 8.1(b) of the By-laws of the Commission of the Churches on international affairs, we have posted our research report in United Nations Global Compact which containing of solving of problems between Christians, Jews, Muslims and Hindus in the world. In accordance with Articles 3.12 of the above By-Laws, it is a duty of commission of Churches to maintain and provide for the maintenance of contacts with International bodies such as the United Nations and its agencies include regional bodies and other non governmental Organisations, which will assist in the attainment of the aims of the Commission. The matter has being brought it to the notice of the World Churches Council and the Commission of the Churches asked its notice on the matter to the United Nations for your appropriate decisions. ?The World Churches Council Policy Paper on Social Justice and Common Goods is the best policy to the World peace and unity solutions, which has been published on 22 March 2011 and the same is in accordance with Psalm 85. The Church cannot succeed if it, isolates itself, Not only must Christians reach out to Muslims and other faiths in the spirit of ecumenism, but there is a need to embrace other people of different philosophical convictions. This requires ideological tolerance, maturity and self assurance in what one believes in. Such coalition building is made easier by choosing issues that unite organizations and movements and which have less potential causing divisions. At the same time we need an honest and inventive method of dealing with differences. The global movement for economic justice relies considerably on policy analysis and research conducted by hundreds if not thousands of academics researchers and scholars. ?Our consequences of the changing power relations in today's world is that there is more room in the public sphere for the affirmation of collective values and principles, experience proves that an informed public opinion can be powerful today, and can change governments public and international agendas. Again Churches are challenged to make use of this opportunity. They need to read the signs of time and to make their voices heard by responding to peoples cries for justice and dignity, and by speaking truth to the powers- whoever and wherever their may be. ?Christians do not have ready made answers and solutions to propose. The Bible offers guidelines (love, sharing, justice for the poor) but does not defined one "Christian" economy or "Christian" politics. ?Churches and Church related organizations can initiate public debates and largely use media means to reach a broader constituency, furthermore, regional thematic discussions can be facilitated with the ecumenical family. WCC should develop specific analysis depending on the context. ?What are theological implications for commodification common goods? ?How shall we ensure the participation all people in managing common goods in the world? ?How do we deal with power imbalances in the world? ?How can the ecumenical family engage itself effectively and in a coherent and convincing way in addressing global power imbalance? ?How can WCC lead a climate change campaign with social justice as a focus? ?What kind of collective values can be draw for the Churches to guide them in addressing the problem of commodification of common goods? ?The above questions have been answered in our research materials available at http://www.goldenduas.com and alsohttp://www.facebook.com/research of international development solutions and the same are to be discussed by the Churches, public and all its organizations in the interest of public safety, peace, unity, health, wealth, faith, interfaith ?                 Under this circumstances, it is just and necessary that UK, USA, Cambridge, Churches on the International Affairs are requested to accept our research paper and also our research organization as an organization under other faith category to assist the commission to achieve its goal of International Peace and climate changes solutions for the benefit of world community especially Christians, Jewish and Muslims, under the by-law 3.11 of CCIA. In view of the aforementioned submissions in the interest of maintenance of International Peace and Security, UN may be pleased to authorize our organization in the name and style of` Research on International Development Solutions `and also our research report in confirmatory with U/A 96 of the present Charter read with U/A 23 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and thus render Justice.  Now, Palestine Muslims are fighting with Israel , both countries are affected and innocent people are killed frequently which is against the Quranic verses 7:137 & 5:33 that no one can claim Israel Government areas which is a place of Israel People but not Muslim or Christian and they can only Allow worship in the Holy Places of Israel . These facts has not been Discussed for amicable solutions of social justice and common good by United Nations to respect Gods word . It is pertinent to note that why the jewish people are affecting the Muslims is mention the Quran 7:167 ? And the same should be taken into consideration by jewish people in the world in the interest of social justice and common good on the light of the research paper posted  at our website www.goldenduas.com and render justice.  Your successU. Is Self-Doubt Holding You Back? 5 Ways To Build Confidence And Banish Doubt

Is Self-Doubt Holding You Back? 5 Ways To Build Confidence And Banish Doubt | Management | Scoop.it

The problem with self-doubt is that the fear it creates stops us from living the lives we most want and changing the things we don’t.  How?  Fear keeps us living small and stuck in jobs that don’t fulfill us but feel safe.  But is there really anything safe about living a life where you feel disengaged, disillusioned or desperate to be doing something else? of course not. The truth is that who you are is not your doubts. The key to banishing them isn’t to wish them away, but to take action in their presence.

It’s easy to mislead ourselves into thinking that if we just had the success we wanted, then we’d never doubt ourselves again and ooze the confidence we see in others.  But it actually works in reverse.

Aligning strategy with culture

Aligning strategy with culture | Management | Scoop.it

Whether the strategic focus is to respond swiftly to customer needs or to achieve manufacturing excellence, organisational culture is an important enabler in achieving business success. There is little consensus, however, on what culture actually means. In our view, culture is what beliefs and values people share. It is the glue which holds people together and determines how they respond or behave. Culture serves as a source of competitive advantage because of this perspective.

Jonas Schlyter's curator insight, September 9, 1:56 PM

You have to understand the importance of culture to gain competitive advantages, and you must align the culture with your strategy. And, you must have in mind that the culture is not tangible, except for the artifacts which are results of the influence of all key elements (e.g. strategy, people, processes, sturcture and rewards) of an organization and its environment.

By making changes in the key elements you can influence changes in the culture. But first I recommend you to understand what culture you have and want culture you want. With help by models describing different cultures you can get support and inspiration when analyzing the current culture and defining a new culture vision. Spiral Dynamics is an interesting and dynamic model of human development and development of social network, society or company.

Keep also in mind that

1. Organizational culture is optimized only when the key elements are aligned and cooperate to influence to desired behaviour of its members

2. Influencing a culture is a process that takes time and makes demand on distinct and consistent leadership

The Evolution Of The Employee

The Evolution Of The Employee | Management | Scoop.it

This concept and the visual was taken from my new book which came out today called, The Future of Work: Attract New Talent, Build Better Leaders, and Create a Competitive Organization.

One of the things I have been writing about and have tried to make clear over the past few months is that work as we know it is dead and that the only way forward is to challenge convention around how we work, how we lead, and how we build our companies. Employees which were once thought of expendable cogs are the most valuable asset that any organization has. However, the employee from a decade ago isn’t the same as the employee who we are starting to see today. To help show that I wanted to share an image from my upcoming book which depicts how employees are evolving. It’s an easy way to see the past vs the future.

Nice graphic that captures the essence of how work and the employee is changing / needing to change. It is very close to an exercise we did with our team as we prepared for our move and our "workplace" consultants (Avance') had our entire team map how work was, how it is now, and where they see it going... Here are some of the key areas:

From individual work to group work

From hierarchy to flat structure

From Independent group to interdependent group

From internally focused to external (customer/member and brand)

From planned connections to spontaneous connections

From single work point to multiple workpoints

From structured to fluid

This also reinforces our approach to what we are calling the "shift change" and how the interplay of technology, workplace, leadership, learning, and culture are all in need of intentional thoughtful planning to get the most out of the new world we are facing...

Ten things a good map can teach you about strategy

Ten things a good map can teach you about strategy | Management | Scoop.it

There are copious definitions of strategy from numerous pundits in the field - some definitions reminiscent of everything and the kitchen sink.

Strategy is relatively new, where it has progressed over the years, following one of two paths: simplification or complication. Kenneth Andrews, was an American academic who, along with Igor Ansoff (of Ansoff Matrix fame) and Alfred D. Chandler, are credited with founding the concept of modern business strategy. One would expect Andrew's definition to be somewhat broad, as this was a new field. And it is. However, I have seen its unfortunate use by some universities today where it is used as the standard definition of strategy. It is not - it is the first definition to emerge in a new field.

Rumblings of discontent about executive wages, the 1%, and wealth gaps know no borders. And neither does fierce debate about income inequality in general. But until now, it’s been relatively unclear how much people think CEOs should really make compared to other workers on a global scale.

In their recent research, scheduled to be published in a forthcoming issue Perspectives on Psychological Science, Chulalongkorn University’s Sorapop Kiatpongsan and Harvard Business School’s Michael Norton investigate “what size gaps people desire” and whether those gaps are at all consistent among people from different countries and backgrounds.

Management Intuition For The Next 50 Years

Management Intuition For The Next 50 Years | Management | Scoop.it

Intuition forms over time. When McKinsey began publishing the Quarterly, in 1964, a new management environment was just beginning to take shape. On April 7 of that year, IBM announced the System/360 mainframe, a product with breakthrough flexibility and capability. Then on October 10, the opening ceremonies of the Tokyo Olympic Games, the first in history to be telecast via satellite around the planet, underscored Japan’s growing economic strength. Finally, on December 31, the last new member of the baby-boom generation was born.

Here is an article with massive implications for future workplaces and the people who will be employed there.  In our schools today we will have to consider the implications for our students. The education we provide would depend on flexible technological formats, developing inter-personal skills, enriching creativity, building clarity into ethical frameworks and so on.  Lots to think about.

I hope my upcoming motivational sales book will make next year's list:

The Sales Assassin: Master Your Black Belt in Sales

I want to help you discover your SAM DNA:

There’s probably not a sales book I haven’t read and there is probably not a sales book that doesn't have some value, but yet there isn’t one that I finish saying, “wow, that was great.” You see my problem is that these books come from the same starting point: A sale is the exchange of money for a product or service that results from an interaction. The process is your ability to engage a prospect on a personal level.

My starting point begins with discovery of your Sales Assassin Master Distinctive Nature to Achieve – Your SAM DNA. Your SAM DNA is your ability to achieve success while overcoming failure. The SAM will find success through his or her passion, dedication and courage to overcome the great challenges of the toughest market place and the toughest competition.

Through my book you must find and define your SAM DNA.

5 Signs Your Employees Dislike You

5 Signs Your Employees Dislike You | Management | Scoop.it

In addition to all of your achievements, you're sure that you're a great boss. After all, your leadership skills have helped you climb the ladder of success. But some of the world's top companies succeed in spite of poor leadership, a result of great products or concepts rather than motivated team members.

According to entrepreneurial counselor Michelle McQuaid, bad bosses cost businesses $360 billion in lost productivity every year. The stress caused by difficult supervisors can negatively affect an employee's overall health and workplace morale, eventually driving him or her out the door. Since losing one employee costs a business tens of thousands of dollars or more, your business will eventually suffer financially if you can't keep employee loss at a minimum.

If you look closely, you may find indications that you're not as popular with your staff as you think you are.

Ivon Prefontaine's curator insight, August 18, 4:16 PM

I wonder if in School we consider that 1/2 of new teachers leave the profession within 7 years? That does not account for those who obtain a degree and never enter the classroom. What does that mean in relationship to high staff turnover?

One way to look at leaders who are not liked is are they leading or managing. We need both, but I found many School managers focused on managing people and avoiding leading.

Many things can impact upon the productivity of employees, and business owners need to be aware that there are many ways in which they can influence employee productivity, so that they take more of the actions that have a positive impact.

Lack of awareness of the factors that impact in a positive way on employee productivity, can lead to the situation where well meaning actions by business owners actually reduce the productivity of their employees, a situation to be avoided at all costs.

This excellent article, suggests that actions taken by business owners directly affect employee productivity, and it suggests 11 action to take to ensure employee productivity reaches its optimal level.

Why Employees Resist Change

When people resist, we see that as problematic. In fact, it might be just what we need at times and maybe a lot of the time. Resisting, questioning, and challenging should be part of the conversation. I experienced a lot of compliance and conformity in School where someone external to my classroom often set the goals for my classroom. It was very unpopular when I spoke up and questioned, resisted, and challenged.
