I like the idea, though I'm interested in hearing if anybody has any experience with how it backs up against other similar tools.

Video really adds a lot to e-learning courses.
Videos we produced for Clark College Corporate and Continuing Education online courses have been really well received by students. They are not only able to demonstrate visually things that can't be shown well with text, but can form great discussion starters as in the case of the medical dramas we made that show how "not" to do it.
