Mapping The Internet: 12 Infographic Maps

Mapping The Internet: 12 Infographic Maps | make money online and offline | Scoop.it

The internet is a worldwide network of computers, but it seems very intangible to most of us. In a general sense, the internet is made up of a lot of different components: Websites, users, servers, browsers, networking cables, and more. Some of these things have a physical component, and some of them do not, but even the ones that do have a physical component can be hard to conceptualize spatially. These maps help to lend that spatial component to the Internet.

B2B Email Marketing: Creating Emails with Killer Clickthrough Rates | make money online and offline | Scoop.it

In 2013, 56% of marketers plan to focus more on B2B email marketing. For this focus to pay off, you must maximize clicks on every email you send. Read more.

A few years ago, marketers were decrying the death of email. Instead of fading away a la MySpace and mood rings, B2B email marketing remains one of the most productive means of generating leads.

According to a 2013 National DMA email report, 89% of marketers believe that email is important to their organizational goals. Rather than dying out, 56% of email marketers plan to focus more on their email campaigns in 2013. To ensure that this focus pays off, you must maximize conversions and clickthrough rates with every email you send.

Managers of five-star restaurants spend hours combining the right ingredients for their recipes. Similarly, creating a five-star B2B email marketing campaign involves more than laying out some content and crossing your fingers. Emails with killer clickthrough rates have a special mix of 12 core components, which includes a great subject line....

Which leads to the question: What are online readers willing to pay for digital content?

It's one of those complex issues troubling publishers, editors and reporters who have to worry about producing enticing content to compete with the plethora of digital fare, and, ensure the success of their revenue streams.

Since Gen Y joined the workforce, employers have been scrambling to figure out what these young workers want. Are they really the narcissistic generation obsessed with instant fame and success? Or do they just have an urgency to change the world?

Whichever it is, managers need to have some sense of what will keep their younger workers satisfied, since this generation has been projected to make up 75% of the global workforce by 2025.

To get a better idea of what millennials most despise and also really love about their jobs, we asked career site Glassfoor to comb through its database of worker commentaries.

The following is based on more than 9,650 company reviews shared by employees between the ages of 21 and 31 on Glassdoor in September:

I was devastated when the Reliance Times Out, a retail book outlet in Gurgaon India shut shop. A large number of book outlets have begun to shut shop in the four major cities of India. It seems as if Crossroads and Landmark will follow suit. Nothing beats the feel of paper, the scent of ink and paper, and the crackle of reading a book. I guess it is time to bid good bye to the good old book just like we did to vinyl records, and cassettes!

Now, more than ever, it's time to start learning all the things we always wanted to learn for two great reasons. First of all, the Internet has become so complex that it is now possible to learn new skills online and secondly because the economy has had some problems since the recession that began in 2007.Millions of people have lost their job, and it would be wise to polish your skills if you ever want to stand a chance in this cruel world. While some decide to become professional couch potatoes, you can spend your valuable time learning new things that you are passionate about, and put them to good use. Here are ten skills, and careers that you can learn online and also enjoy.

Most businesseses, will at some point in their evolution, attempt to introduce a new product to their chosen market.

Given that the vast majority of new product launches fail to excite their markets and disappear from sight very quickly, it pays for any business thinking of launching a new product, to first determine that their proposed product possesses the qualities of past successful products.

This excellent article, highlights the very real downside of launching a new product, and it offers a 10 point checklist that any business can use to evaluate their proposed offering against to determine whether or not to proceed with any proposed launch.

There are plenty of opportunities for niche funds.

Samantha Hales's curator insight, October 10, 2013 8:26 PM

-Shops like VC are disappearing as the society of people are shifting standards. Sears has taken its place and VC mergered with Kmart. There are places that are for the lower classes, and places for the higher end places. The middle market has hollowed out though. Investing in the low end can be profitable, but obviously takes strategy.

-I think that it is a difficult thing for huge stores like Sears to go out of "style", but they usually disappear when a new one replaces it. It may upset those people who are still going to those stores like VC and Sears. I also think that it is not ideal for Kmart to buy out VC, but at least they are still apart of part of the market. Having stores that are disappearing disappoint loyal people, and it is a difficult process for the business.

How Executive Profiles Deepen Your Competitor Analysis

How Executive Profiles Deepen Your Competitor Analysis | make money online and offline | Scoop.it

there is one element that’s usually missing from most other competitor analyses. It’s executive profiles, which contain deep professional, behavioral, and personal insights on C-level and senior employees who work to compete against your company. While financial reports and product lists could tell you what’s happening on a tactical, day-to-day level, executive profiles will tell you what’s happening or will happen on a strategic, big-picture level for a competitor analysis. After all, an executive's personality, past experiences, and current activities do play a role in their company’s competitive advantage.
