Pride and passion | Mainstream Sports | Scoop.it
The Springboks showed remarkable grit and determination in the 27-38 loss to the All Blacks in the epic Ellis Park showdown on Saturday. We rate the Boks' performance!
Chevawn's Tut Group's insight:

This article is based on the loss of the Springboks, South African Rugby Team, against the all blacks, New Zealand Rugby Team, but has a different approach in that it acknowledges the effort and commitment of the South African Team well and thoroughly. This article elaborates on why this match was billed as the best match by most sport reviews through giving a breakdown of the match and enhancing this breakdown with a rating of each player that is accompanied by a profound description of each player’s contribution and commitment to the game. This would be a great read as it gives a vibrant and positive description and approach to reporting on the game. This article is also a great review that can be used by those who did not watch the game to not only see the results but to get a thorough review of the Springboks performance.

Chevawn's Tut Group's insight:

This article is a report on how the former test leg-spinner, Abdul Qadir, feels about their two-test cricket match that Pakistan will be playing against the South African cricket team, Proteas, in Abu Dhabi starting October 14. It is a great article in that we are a force to be reckoned with in Cricket and this article stipulates this through the quotes which are used from the former Test leg-spinner, Abdul Qadir. This will be a great read for all South Africans whether they are sports lovers or not as it will lend them a sense of hope on our country’s competence and also increase the numbers of cricket supporters. This article will also be a good read because it has varying quotes which lend it a sense of creativity regardless of the absence of a graphic.

Dietkart Blog: Boost your athletic performance with Sports and Nutrition Supplements

Dietkart Blog: Boost your athletic performance with Sports and Nutrition Supplements | Mainstream Sports | Scoop.it
Chevawn's Tut Group's insight:

"Boost your preformance with supplements"

When many hear this phrase(or one like it), people(myself included) will be quick to think negatively about it.

In major sporting leagues such as the Olympics or tour de france prefromance enhancement is illegal and frowned upon.

Yet these are not steroids, these are legal suplements that can be bought over the counter and consumed by anyone. The article iteslf discusses how suppliments are integral to sport and preformance, and how its as perfectly natural as taking a vitiman pill.

The Liverpool Legends will take on the Kaizer Chiefs Legends at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on November 16, it was announced on Thursday.
Chevawn's Tut Group's insight:

This is such an exciting article. The popular Liverpool football club is coming to South Africa in November and will be playin against Kaizer Chiefs in Durban.

This could either be  a success or total failure on the Kaizer Chiefs' side but the local team is not to be underestimated because it one of the most successful teams in South Africa. Liverpool's arrival could open up a lot of opportunities.

Platini calls on football to lead fight against racism | eNCA

Platini calls on football to lead fight against racism | eNCA | Mainstream Sports | Scoop.it
Chevawn's Tut Group's insight:

One of the issues that continue to be a problem in soccer/football is racism and prejudice.

In the  article, it says UEFA and FIFA have taken action against events of racism. Although the article states that no racism is tolerated, does not mean there have not been recent incidents of racism particularly in Great Britain, Italy and Ukraine.

For me, it just shows that one cannot really prevent it but one can stop it. There seems to be nothing written on paper (a code of conduct, perhaps) that will ensure that there will be consequences in the event of racist or prejudice attitudes coming from the players.

De Sa satisfied with goalless draw

De Sa satisfied with goalless draw | Mainstream Sports | Scoop.it
Orlando Pirates coach Roger de Sa says he is satisfied with the goalless draw in the dramatic first-leg Caf Champions League semifinal against Tunisia's Esperance at Orlando Stadium on Saturday night.
Chevawn's Tut Group's insight:

This is a very useful article for all those who have an interest in South African Football. This article serves a simplified analysis of the match that took place between South African club Orlando Pirates and Tunisian Club Esperance FC. For those who are not aware, the reason why these two teams are playing against each other is because they are in the semi-finals of the African Champions league and it is a proud moment to have a South African soccer team to progress that far in such competition (considering the state of football in our country). This article also explains the current state of the competition in relation to Pirates and it also provides a video in the middle that shows the most intriguing moments of the match. However there is one downside, the article has miss spelled the surname of Pirates midfielder Andile Jali in the second line of the third last paragraph. Overall it is an informative article and it uses various official sources including the Pirates Manager.

What Is Overtraining? - Competitor Running | Mainstream Sports | Scoop.it
The world's only "athletic illness" remains poorly understood.
Chevawn's Tut Group's insight:

Overtraining syndrome.

In the field of sports, atheletes are known to constantly push themselves and their fitness in order to reach the highest echelon or 'peak' of their ability.

However in this article, the negative aspects of overtraining are noted for example 'Overtrainingsyndrome' which is characterized by an unxepected deline in preformance that is in fact not caused by any illness or injury instead simply put it occurs after training too much.

In mainstream sport, athletes undergo immense pressure and training in order to one up eachother, but is it possible that in order to gain the upper hand one needs to rest once in a while?

SABC News.com - Celtic denies plan to fire coach:Monday 7 October 2013 | Mainstream Sports | Scoop.it
Bloemfontein Celtic chief executive Khumbulani Konco has refuted reports that they intend to fire coach Clinton Larsen following a string of poor results.
Chevawn's Tut Group's insight:

This article talks about a coach being fired due to the poor performance of The Bloemfontein Celtics who were beaten by the Mamelodi Sundowns by 4-0 in the Telkom Knockout. This was said to be the worst defeat in four years and the blame is put on coach Clinton Larsen.

Is it fair to put the blame on the coach? I beg to differ. A coach can only do so much. It is up to the players to execute what they have learned and have been taught. Coaches are underrated and work very hard and look out for the team's best interests. This is an unfair dismissal.
