How to update PHP version in cPanel of Linux shared server
As of now, we find PHP version information through server provider for different OS like Linux hosting, window hosting etc. Several times we have to update PHP version in our shared Linux hosting server. As previous version of PHP of your shared Linux server is lower and your server company allows updating new version of PHP, you should update version through several methods.
Method: update PHP version through Cpanel.
You have to login into cPanel first.Click on File Manager.Opt “Document Root for” option with “Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)” and click on “Go”.Make sure Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)" is checked.
Right click on the .htaccess file and click Code Edit from the menu. Alternatively, you can click on the icon for the .htaccess file and then click on the Code Editor icon at the top of the page.you will need to add the following code to your .htaccess file:# Use PHP 5.3 Add Type application/x-httpd-php53 .phpPHP5.3 indicates your latest version of PHP.Click Save Changes in the upper right hand corner when done. The changes will be saved.Once complete, you can click Close to close the File Manager window.
You can edit your .htaccess file via FTP or through cPanel's File Manager, whatever is more convenient for you.
