One of my regrets is that I did not take design courses in college. It should be a required course for all business marketers. 13 Marketing Trends for 2013 offers some insight into the minds and methods of consumers. I agree with all of these except for Facebook is a given. With Facebook's recent change, brands are getting less visibility and less ROI from this media than ever before. I forsee that unless Facebook makes serious changes, brands will be investing less time and dollars in FB marketing and moving back toward traditional media marketing or adopting other social media platforms. With over 40% of the US population using smart phones, mobile marketing is more important than ever. Here are some tips:
1. Make sure your website is optimized for mobile. 2. Make sure your phone number and address is clearly visible on home page. 3. If you rely on customers coming to your location to make purchases, make sure that your business has a presence on Yelp. and Google Plus Pages, (Local). 4. If you own a restaurant, there are several mobile apps that you need to make sure your business is properly listed on including Yelp.com, Where.com, Urban Spoon.com, Local.Com, Google Maps, Mapquest, Zagat.com, Foursquare.com.. And that's just to start!
