inovative ideas such as these making robotics available to the general public are ingenious in my opinion as they help society adapt to robotics aswell as bring the awe in seeing what you can create.

Londonderry Inventioneers strike a deal during Shark Tank appearance | Made Different | Scoop.it

LONDONDERRY - When the ABC television show "Shark Tank" premiered in summer 2009, six teenage engineers were watching and dreaming from their Londonderry living rooms.

"We'd often joke about it, about what we'd do if we got a chance to be on the show," said Tristan "T.J." Evarts, 17, one of the founding members of the Inventioneers. The group is a FIRST Lego League team whose award-winning invention, the SMART Wheel, is due to go into production later this year.

Rethink Robotics :: Meet Baxter

Rethink Robotics :: Meet Baxter | Made Different | Scoop.it

Baxter is an entirely new type robot that is redefining the way robots can be used in manufacturing environments. It performs a variety of repetitive production tasks – all while safely and intelligently working next to people.  How?  Baxter exhibits behavior-based ‘common sense,’ capable of sensing and adapting to its task and its environment. It requires no complex programming or costly integration. And with its uniquely low price point, Baxter provides a compelling alternative to low-cost offshoring for manufacturers of all sizes.

Sustainability Starts With A Mindset > ENGINEERING.com | Made Different | Scoop.it

Ask ten people “what does sustainability mean to you” and you’ll get ten different answers.  There will be common threads throughout the responses, likely the first things that come to mind like “green”, “renewable”, “LEED”, or “the capacity to endure”.  However, the deeper meaning of sustainability is likely to be missed unless one has been exposed to the building body of knowledge surrounding the theme of sustainability, or it’s close partner resiliency.  Sustainability starts with a mindset, one that begins with the end in mind.
