Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:

30 years have passed since Bruce Wayne survived Skynet's nuclear blasts in August of '97. Iron demons now roam the planet, and without the requirement to defend the innocent against crime and injustice, Wayne has seeked refuge in the bomb shelter that saved his life; the Batcave.

Having scavenged the wasteland for resources, he discovers the radio of a dead soldier. There is static over a frequency. Flesh and blood is rising up to the west. With The Stinger; a riot control vehicular unit built before the apocalypse along with a refitted bomb blast vest, Batman makes his way across what remains of the United States to join forces with the man determined to neutralize the electronic menace - John Conner.

Original Concept - Tony Guerrero

Original Music - Noir Deco

'Room on the Broom': The Art of the Oscar ... - Cartoon Brew | Machinimania | Scoop.it
In this special Cartoon Brew series, we asked the five nominees of the 2013 Best Animated Short Academy Award to discuss the artwork of their films. Today we continue this exclusive look at the short contenders with Room ...
Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:

Jan Lachauer and Max Lang: Room on the Broom is a story of change and company. More and more characters join the well-balanced team of Witch and Cat on their magic broom. With each new member, their journey gets harder and harder.

But in the end it turns out that even if it’s harder to travel together, there are obstacles that you don’t want to face alone. Even if you are much faster on your own, you get much further as a group. And it’s not the size of the broom that should define a group, but the size of the group that should define a broom. Together they create a world where no one gets left behind.

Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:

Although you can correct a lot of exposure errors in Photoshop, particularly using raw format files, it’s still better to get the results right in-camera as much as possible.

Even when converting raw images, there is a limit to how much highlight detail you can recover if you over-expose your images.

While it’s often possible to boost the detail in the shadows of an under-exposed shot, the result will be noisier and lower quality than if you correctly exposed it in the first place.

Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:

It's the question that most animation professionals ask immediately after they've seenGet A Horse! How did Walt Disney Animation Studios actually pull that short off? How'd they first replicate the exact look and feel of a Mickey Mouse cartoon of late 1928 / early 1929 and then (SPOILER AHEAD) send a CG version of Mickey and Horace Horsecollar hurtling out through the screen into today's world?

Well, director Lauren MacMullan and producer Dorothy McKim were obviously working with a talented team at WDAS. But a key player on this project was animation legend Eric Goldberg.

Surgeons reconstruct baby's skull with 3D printing technology

Through a collaboration with Medical Modeling Inc. in Golden, Colo., Dr. Michael Egnor and Dr. Elliot Duboys were able to virtually plan the entire surgery beforehand.
Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:

Worried for their son’s health, the new parents took Gabriel to a pediatrician, who diagnosed the newborn with unilateral coronal synostosis – also known as anterior plagiocephaly.

For babies with this condition, a growth plate fuses prematurely on one side of the skull, causing the forehead to become more and more distorted and form asymmetrically.

This will be a great way to show off your creativity. These 3D challenges not only help you to develop and prove your skills among other like minded creatives, but they also give you the self confidence that your ideas are worthy. Joining these render competitions is a great idea for all modelers, graphic designers, especially new students and 3D designers. This shows their ability to create unique ideas and concepts thus competing with the ideas of others.

Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:

Welcome to the first article in Art House, a series detailing the evolution of art house films, and their impact on the relationship between art and cinema.

The term art house refers to films that are artistic or experimental in nature, and are generally not part of the commercial mainstream. It is interesting to note that unlike many other forms of avant-garde, filmic avant-garde does not typically generate the profits earned by its musical, visual, and literary counterparts.

Incredible Brick Sculptures by Brad Spencer

Incredible Brick Sculptures by Brad Spencer | Machinimania | Scoop.it
Reidsville, North Carolina-based artist Brad Spencer works with bricks to produce eye-catching, figurative sculptures. Each piece of work in the sculptor's growing collection is an intriguing look at a common medium used in an unconventional way.

Via Annie Brightstar
Henrik Safegaard - Cloneartist's insight:

Many of the sculptor's works play with the material's architectural use, referencing its conventional purpose by inserting a wall or some sort of rectangular public divider.

From these basic structures emerge Spencer's three-dimensional figures. The artist uses a relief technique, working with unfired clay first to carve his figures in a brickwork pattern. He then proceeds to fire the pieces individually and assemble the bricks on the site of its display.

The extension, available for Chrome and Firefox, does exactly what it says: your GIF animations will be delayed so that they play properly the first time you see them.
