I thought it was a bit like, "Whatever Works" and then it seems to be almost science. Some of the rules are psychological exercises that don’t relate to composition but to a writer’s self-knowledge.

Hemingway never wrote a treatise on the art of writing fiction.  He did, however, leave behind a great many passages in letters, articles and books with opinions and advice on writing. Some of the best of those were assembled in 1984 by Larry W. Phillips.

I began this travel of storytelling with Hemingway never wrote a treatise on the art of writing fiction. He did, however, leave behind a great many passages in letters, articles and books with opinions and advice on writing. First rule: To get started, write one true sentence.
