"As more of our students are using touchscreen devices, teachers are realizing there is an added cost in peripherals... i.e., apps, headphones and styluses. These costs can quickly add up, so finding simple low-cost solutions is quite helpful. Below is a quick way to create your own stylus with 3 household items in just a few seconds! Plus - BONUS - it makes an awesome science activity... scroll down for more."

A Great iPad Manual for Every Teacher ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

A Great iPad Manual for Every Teacher ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | M-Learn in Education | Scoop.it

"A few weeks ago I posted here a poster on iPad basics which many of you have downloaded to use with their students in the class. Today, I am sharing with you another great resource on iPad. This is not a graphic but a quick reference card on everything you and your students need to know about iPad. From the hardware to networking features , this little manual can serve as a leading guide to a better manipulation of  your iPad.
I am not sure how much iPading you are doing in your classroom but whether you use iPad just occasionally or you adopt it as a consistent learning and teaching tool,  the reference card below will definitely give you a hand in improving your iPad use. I suggest that you share it with your students and go through it with them section by section and make sure they understand it before they start using their iPads again.

Quick Tip: Use iTunes to Transfer Files to Compatible Apps On Your iPad | iPad Insight

Quick Tip: Use iTunes to Transfer Files to Compatible Apps On Your iPad | iPad Insight | M-Learn in Education | Scoop.it

"Here’s a tip we published almost four years ago, but seeing as I used it quite recently at work, I thought I’d give it a refresh. Now that iPads are infiltrating the office space and boardrooms, I see more and more co-workers wanting to take videos and other files into meetings with them. This isn’t a problem on a PC or Mac because they can just use USB drives, but iOS 7 devices like the iPad aren’t as easy to transfer files to (iOS 8 will change this a bit with iCloud Drive, but it’s not here yet).

Fortunately, as long as you have a computer running a recent version of iTunes, it’s fairly easy to transfer files to an iPad using the USB cable (30-pin or Lightning, depending on your device):"

10 Great Tools for Academic Research You Should Know about ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning

10 Great Tools for Academic Research You Should Know about ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning | M-Learn in Education | Scoop.it

"Compared with how academic research was carried out in the pre-internet era, It seems like technology is really a godsend gift to researchers. From easy and unlimited access to journal articles to web tools that do the referencing and auto-syncing, everything has been digitized making it way easier for todays researchers to add to the body of the human knowledge than any time in history.

As a web 2.0 researcher and a graduate student in the faculty of education in Mount Saint Vincent University, I have had the chance to experiment with a wide variety of web tools that can make your academic life much more easier. Below are some of the web tools I have been recommending to undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate and PHD students, and professors. Check them out below and make sure you share them with your colleagues, they could be in dire need for them. Enjoy"

A great source to view the top tools used to assist research and writing.  These tools are especially useful for people within the academic field to organize notes, research papers, and articles.  Zotero, Scrivener, and Producteev are just a few tools mentioned.

Numbered Wallpapers - Learning in Hand

Numbered Wallpapers - Learning in Hand | M-Learn in Education | Scoop.it

"A great management tip for school or class sets of iPads, tablets, and iPods is to number each device. Setting the lock screen wallpaper to an image with each device's number will make it easy to identify devices. Just press the home or power button and the lock screen instantly lights up and displays the number.

I've made some new numbered wallpapers and I'd like to share them with you. They are high resolution so they will look great on Retina and other high resolution screens. Each set goes up to 100, and you are certainly free to use these as wallpaper on your school or organization's devices. If you would rather make your own set of wallpapers, scroll down for a template and advice for making your own sets."
