Also, the technology is being fed big data to help scientists understand and predict the effects of climate change.

Carlos Fosca's curator insight, May 12, 12:33 PM

The future of your organization is in its Culture of Learning

The future of your organization is in its Culture of Learning | Lyseo.org (ICT in High School) | Scoop.it
Managers, leaders, and employees are all a part of that culture. But as a member of a team, you know what’s happening better than anyone. So, what can you do with all the information you have? What can you do to help your company continue into the foreseeable future? One part of the answer, if not the main part, is the culture of learning in the organization.

Learning is everywhere. I learn everyday in my job and I think most other people do as well. We all have to learn somehow or our jobs become boring, or even worse, we don’t do them very well anymore.

So, as a member of a team with a strong learning culture, what can you do to help yourself and others learn more effectively? How can you help your company create a strong and better culture of learning? More importantly, how do you harness that learning power and help it propel you into the future? Again, those precogs. It’s just between you and me. There have to be answers somewhere!

Assessments are no longer simply tests that students fret about or neglect to study for. Developing a Growth Mindset in Teachers and Staff | #ProfessionalDevelopment #ModernEDU | Lyseo.org (ICT in High School) | Scoop.it
An idea that is beginning to gain a lot of favour in educational circles at the moment is the notion of fixed versus growth mindsets, and how they might relate to students and learning. Based on the work of Stanford University psychologist, Carol Dweck, the idea of mindset is related to our understanding of where ability comes from. It has recently been seized upon by educators as a tool to explore our knowledge of student achievement, and ways that such achievement might be improved.

There are of course plenty of other questions that can be asked in a Learning Management System needs analysis, but these are some of the most frequently encountered as stumbling blocks further down the line. It’s best to be clear right from the start what your LMS needs are going to be. This allows you to approach vendors with more confidence and will help to avoid getting swayed by impressive features that you do not actually need. READ THE COMMENTS

This is a reminder to both students and teachers (we are all learners) that a can-do attitude can help us to overcome barriers and obstacles to growth. Often we see a single route to success. When that pathway is blocked, we may give up. But a positive attitude supports multiple pathways and once we persevere we find them. It is about growth, not about benchmarks - any growth, small or large is positive.
