Critical Thinking is Thinking On Purpose!
Critical thinking involves mindful communication, problem-solving, and a freedom from bias or egocentric tendency. It’s clear, rational, logical, and independent thinking. It’s about improving thinking by analyzing, assessing, and reconstructing how we think.
You can apply critical thinking to any kind of subject, problem, or situation you choose.

Thanks to @Gust MEES for sharing this resource.  I believe this is a great option that schools should be providing parents that have students actively using these or similar sites.  The more parents understand the better chances for collaboration among them and respect for educational use.

Steps to Creating the Conditions for Deep, Rigorous, Applied Learning | Infographic | Lund's K-12 Technology Integration | Scoop.it

Many school administrators, teachers and parents want the education provided to children to be high quality, rigorous and connected to the world outside the classroom. Teachers are trying to provide these elements in various ways, but a group of schools calling themselves the “Deeper Learning Network” have codified some of what they believe are essential qualities of deep learning (check out how students lead parent teacher conferences in this model).

Some of these qualities include learning designated content, critical thinking, communication skills, collaborating effectively and connecting learning to real-world experiences.

14 things that are obsolete in 21st century schools

14 things that are obsolete in 21st century schools | Lund's K-12 Technology Integration | Scoop.it

Teachers who work silently, don’t tweet, blog and discuss ideas with people around the world are obsolete. Teachers are no longer working locally but globally and it’s our job to share what we do and see what others are doing. If a teacher is no longer learning then he shouldn’t be teaching other people.

We should all be tweeting, blogging and sharing what works and doesn’t work, get and give advice to and from co-workers around the world. We should constantly be improving our craft because professional development isn’t a 3 hour workshop once a month but a lifelong process.

“We do not learn from experience…we learn from reflecting on experience.” -John Dewey

Learning, Learning, Learning not Apps, Apps, Apps | Lund's K-12 Technology Integration | Scoop.it
An app on its own is like a thinker without thoughts! This blog chronicles the trials and tribulations of 1:1 iPad deployment in a large secondary school and, as such, covers many positives and neg..

Let me explain. All too often I see reference to ‘look how I can present these words across a picture to engage mystudents!’ or ‘Check out how this random name app selects my students.

’ Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure these opportunities have a place as part of the process, but they certainly aren’t a reason to use tablets in the classroom.

Getting Kids Engaged with Primary Sources | Cool Tools

Getting Kids Engaged with Primary Sources | Cool Tools | Lund's K-12 Technology Integration | Scoop.it

The U.S. National Archives Experience Digital Vaults (pictured above) offers students a good introduction to discovering and working with primary source materials. Rather than turning kids loose on millions of records in the National Archives, Digital Vaults focuses on a curated collection of 1,200 items.

Within the site, there are activities designed to help students discover important connections between primary sources. One section, Pathways Challenges, provides quizzes that ask kids to analyze a specific resource and then find the related document within the collection. Teachers and students can create their own quizzes or take advantage of the premade challenges.

Students who create free Digital Vaults accounts can collect primary source documents and images and use them to create digital posters and videos within the available templates.
