Technology’s potential in revolutionizing instruction and learning has long been extolled, but many proponents have failed to realize the fiscal limitations associated with traditional one-to-one laptop infusion programs. Littleton Public Schools (LPS), in Littleton, Colorado, recently unveiled an alternative approach to purchasing every student a laptop and this program, called Inspired Writing, is generating noticeable increases in student achievement and positive impacts on classroom instruction.
Like something out of a Robert Heinlein novel, students at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) have built a metal rocket engine using a technique previously confined to NASA. Earlier this month, the UCSD chapter of the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) at the Jacobs School of Engineering conducted a hot fire test for a 3D-printed metal rocket engine at the Friends of Amateur Rocketry launch site in California’s Mojave Desert. This is the first such test of a printed liquid-fueled, metal rocket engine by any university in the world and the first designed and printed outside of NASA.

The past eight months have been a crazy time for the 3Doodler team, from launching the 3Doodler on Kickstarter in February, to shipping the first 3Doodlers in September (and of course everything in between!). Each year, findings are summarized and shared with national and state policy makers.
The Innovative Education Grants Program will provide up to 14 Colorado teachers need-based stipends to attend the InnEdCo Conference, June 17-19, 2014. The stipends will cover conference registration and provide $400 towards accommodations and other expenses. Qualified educators must be certified teachers. Administrators need not apply.
