UCSD students test fire 3D-printed metal rocket engine

UCSD students test fire 3D-printed metal rocket engine | LPS Tech Updates | Scoop.it

Like something out of a Robert Heinlein novel, students at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) have built a metal rocket engine using a technique previously confined to NASA. 3Doodler - Handheld 3D Printer # Kickstarter Trailer HD

The 3Doodler lives up to my expectations and more! It opens up a lot more fun options and I would have loved to have 3-4 of them to use them for workshops… ” – Kickstarter backer

The past eight months have been a crazy time for the 3Doodler team, from launching the 3Doodler on Kickstarter in February, to shipping the first 3Doodlers in September (and of course everything in between!). Even though the team has had very little sleep over the past few months, we have loved every minute of it and the comments and content we have received in return have been phenomenal.

Being able to see people’s imaginations spring to life and for them to finally make those creative thoughts a reality has been inspirational on many levels, and I know most of the 3Doodler team has been practicing their doodling skills to try and keep up!

Here are a handful of inspiring things we’ve seen this month that we wanted to share with you!
