Content marketing strategy: content formats in the new buyer journey

Content marketing strategy: content formats in the new buyer journey | Los archivos secretos de El Estratega | Scoop.it

An in-depth overview of the changed buyer journey and how it fits with a content marketing strategy, content formats and buyer personas.... How the customer journey has changed and how content and social are involved We know the customer journey has changed. It includes more touchpoints via different channels than before or in many cases more contact moments via a limited number of touchpoints. The idea of touchpoints originated in the CRM world and is now used by many large organizations. You can read a bit more about it here and view some typical graphical representations here. There are also tools to map the different touchpoints and customer experiences buyer personas have across their buyer journey. So, the customer journey has changed. It has also become more ‘social’ in the sense that people use social mechanisms and networks than before. In B2B marketing most searches for content in the buying journey start on search engines. But, as lots and lots of research (ITSMA, BuyerSphere, etc.) and actual customer interviews by smart B2B marketers such as Kristin Zhivago have shown, many B2B buyers now use social, look more for content during their journey (hence the importance of content marketing) and are what we like to call “empowered”....

3 Google Tips For Improving Your Search Engine Ranking - Business 2 Community

3 Google Tips For Improving Your Search Engine Ranking - Business 2 Community | Los archivos secretos de El Estratega | Scoop.it

Attracting buyers to your site through SEO is becoming harder, thanks to search ranking getting way smarter and more and more personalized to the searcher. So the question for B2B marketers is: How can you measure rank accurately if you know it’s going to be different for each person – based on where they are, their search history, and their activity on various Google apps?

For example, factors like your location if you have location services on (eg. by using Google Maps) and usage history (Google uses hints to your location even if you have disabled location services by looking at your past searches) can directly impact your search results. For many marketers keeping up with SEO best practices is hard and confusing. But there are some things you can do that do work. In fact, Google look favorably upon them (hint: they are NOT dodgy link buying tactics)….

How to Become an Excellent Networker

How to Become an Excellent Networker | Los archivos secretos de El Estratega | Scoop.it

1. Always think about the other person, not personal gain. Most people are concerned with their own personal gain and you'll quickly stand out. Albert Einstein once said, "Strive not to be a person of success, but a person of value."

2. Build a network around an idea that people believe in. They have to believe strongly enough to build trust, a foundation and a core value system. This makes it more powerful because everyone participates based on their shared mission.

3. Maximize access. By connecting others to access, you're providing value-added service. Access is everything. And you can then surround yourself with people that want to work with you.

Brand Storytelling: 10 Steps to Start Your Content Marketing Hero’s Journey

Brand Storytelling: 10 Steps to Start Your Content Marketing Hero’s Journey | Los archivos secretos de El Estratega | Scoop.it

As a content marketer, you have probably heard the call for us all to become brand storytellers. While this sounds great in theory, the tricky part for many companies is determining how to develop these stories in the first place.

There are no hard-and-fast rules for developing your brand’s stories, but you can go back and look at classic storytelling and structure as a helpful map to guide you. For example, the classic “hero’s journey” from Joseph Campbell’s, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, outlines what he calls the “monomyth” — which is a pattern that many believe can be found in almost every narrative around the world.

[Disclaimer: "Kathy's Insight" is usually simply another pithy excerpt from the Scooped article] We are primed to use stories. Part of our survival as a species depended upon listening to the stories of our tribal elders as they shared parables and passed down their experience and the wisdom of those who went before. As we get older it is our short-term memory that fades rather than our long-term memory. Perhaps we have evolved like this so that we are able to tell the younger generation about the stories and experiences that have formed us which may be important to subsequent generations if they are to thrive.

Caroline Vanlaer's comment, March 13, 2013 10:14 PM
