If You Build It, They Won’t Come. You Need To Market and Sell The Heck Out Of It!

One of the most important lessons I learned in business is that you actually need to sell or at least develop the skill in order for your business to thrive. Fact is that you can t build a business without selling! It took a decade for me to fully grasp this I remember when I was just out of the University where I graduated with a Management Accounting degree, one of the first jobs I applied to was as a Sales Representative for a drug distribution company (a legal one). One of the first things I was asked is that if I knew what the job entails, young as I was and very nervous about the whole interview thing I murmured, I believe the position entails sales . The interviewer (a cocky district manager), shouted as if scolding me that, it s everything about sales! . I was defeated that day, not by the interviewer but by the fact that I have a very low self esteem to even make the cut on a sales job that I really wanted to get. It s been a decade since that [epic] interview, but I never le

Vegetable Salad for Diet? Why Not?

Vegetable salads are simple and are no doubt good for your health. Having moved to Winnipeg, a place where you don t get to sweat at least 6 months a year (if you don t exercise regularly) due to winter yes, it s a bad place for rice eaters and those who love their meat, I try to eat healthier meals as much as I can. We actually stopped buying meat (except chicken) a couple of months ago in our aim to eat healthier and better food. Of course, Cloide still loves his hotdogs and thinks that vegetables are bad for him. Not sure where he got that idea, uhmm too much TV? A little bit of this and a little bit of that and I ve made a raw green salad that I m still working on as of this writing I ve thrown in a freshly-squeeze citrus to complement the greens for the drink. Ingredients: Vegetable Salad: - Baby Carrots - Baby Tomatoes - Cucumber - Mushrooms - Grapes - lettuce Dressing: Kraft s Rancher s Choice Juice: Freshly-squeezed Calamansi (citrus) in iced water.

Smashed! Why You Shouldn’t Let Your Toddlers Play With Your Phone

Oh my God, you should ve gotten insurance! my wife said as she opened the car s door when I picked her up from work earlier today Of course, this wasn t the first time she reminded me of this Nope, we re not talking about life insurance here! We re fully covered in that aspect. Time and again, she always reminded me to buy insurance whenever I buy tech tools and gadgets, in fact, this HP Pavillion Touch, model 14-N028-ca, the very laptop I m using right now to write this post isn t covered by any sort of insurance I know you might think I m stupid, but before you say a word YES, I ve learned my lesson! Samsung Galaxy III isn t invincible and so was my LG Optimus II. Looking at the smashed screen of my phone, I ve learned a valuable lesson today Not only should I get an insurance coverage for any tech gadget that I buy (considering that this laptop already survived two drops to the floor), more importantly, as a parent I should draw a line between kids toys and dad s business tools . What I’ve Learned In 35 Years

I was born, March 20, 1979 and boy, time flies! I tried a lot of things in those 35 long years and learned a lot in all those trials and errors but then I had to unlearn about 90% of what I ve learned in life in the passed year. For some people, life begins at 30, for others, 50 it s 34 for me. At 34, I realized that everything I learned in life was useless, at least in achieving the life I ve set out to have when I was finishing school. Remember the time when you graduated from College? You felt like you can conquer the world and that you will be very successful in your chosen field. Everyone else felt like that but looking 10 or so years back, I ve realized that my outlook in life drastically changed. I further found out that I have been taking an entirely different direction from what I really wanted in life. My grandfather was a very successful entrepreneur and though I never met him, I knew that I can achieve the same or even greater success but in the last 10 years of my life, I

All a day’s work is done

When your day has come to end, all a day s work is done. Even though your thoughts tell you that lots more need accomplished and you feel that nothing has been done by day end, all a day s work is done. Relax, close your eyes, breathe, and drift for all a day s work is done. You did your best today, don t worry for things unaccomplished. Your work for the day is done. Sleep like a child tonight for tomorrow s another day Like you did today, you will seize it till day end but when it comes to end, pat yourself on the back for all a day s work done. Whenever you feel weary at day end, remind yourself that all a day s work is done. Nothing else should occupy one s thoughts. Sleep deeply and rejuvenate oneself for the morrow. Bathroom Vanity: To Renovate, Replace or Just Renounce?

Bathroom vanities are really the heart of the restroom, kind of in the same way that The Dude s Persian Rug really “tied the room together” in The Big Lebowski movie. A toilet and shower work together with other accessories to give an overall vibe to the room but it s the bathroom vanity that is the focal point. That being said, one of the most popular home improvement projects is upgrading said vanity, whether it be via replacement, refinishing, or part of a complete remodel. Here are some of the factors to weigh when choosing what option is right for you. Replacing the Bathroom Vanity As part of a complete bathroom renovation, most homeowners opt to replace their old vanity altogether. This doesn t mean it always has to be the case but the overall convenience of a replacement project is the go-to route for a number of reasons: Poor Shape – In some cases the bathroom cabinets are just too far gone for even the most experienced renovator to salvage. Throwback: Halloween in Winnipeg (2013)

Halloween is one of the most anticipated events in Winnipeg, Canada and we ve been ambushing homes for candies and other treats since 2011 for our little one, Cloide. Mom and Dad seem to have enjoyed the first two Halloweens (2011 and 2012) as Cloide didn t have any idea what the heck was happening or maybe he did there s this one lady who was dressed as a Witch who scared the heck out of Cloide when she came towards her door. Last year s was a blast for Cloide as it was the first time that he was rushing with his older cousins for sweet loots, carrying a small paper bag; I could tell he was excited that he didn t mind the cold as Mr. Winter was already on it s way. Anyway, I wasn t able to take pictures of Cloide looting sweets but what I want to share is one of the homes we frequently stop by either late in the evening or early in the morning NOT for sweets or treats but for the TRICK. Yes, the surroundings itself is a trick and is well prepped for the event. I haven t yet seen any

Be An Empty Cup

To learn, one should be an empty cup this old parable still applies these days, one can t learn if one isn t willing to empty one s cup. This is a story of a western scholar who came to Japan to learn about Zen from an old Zen master. As the story goes, the two sat down to introductory tea, and it became evident after a few minutes that the western scholar was more interested in telling the Zen master what he knew than learning anything from him. As the Zen master poured the tea for his guest, the scholar continued to ramble on. The tea began to spill over the edges of the cup; the Zen master continued pouring. Sir! said the western scholar. The cup is over-full! Yes, replied the Zen master, and like this cup you too are over-filled with your own ideas and opinions. How do you expect to learn if you are not willing to empty your cup? Learning or the ability to learn is one of the most potent power that an entrepreneur or anyone should posses. If you would like to get ahead in life, tu

10 Tips to Fix a Leaky Toilet in your Bathroom

There s nothing more annoying – and costly – in the bathroom than a leaky toilet. Every drop into the bowl represents a penny being absorbed that adds up to significant overages on your monthly bill. Another result of a leaky toilet is the bowl getting low and refilling itself in the middle of the night or every 25 minutes, making you think you have a ghost with a bad prostate as a roommate. Some people get used to the white noise of a toilet flushing after putting up with it for years but a better solution is to try these tips for fixing that freaky leak. You can check the first item off your list on whether or not to fix a leaky toilet by first finding out if you have one. Place food coloring in the tank of the toilet and if the bowl starts filling up with colored water, congratulations you ve got a leak to fix. Watch the Toilet Flush The best way to figure out what is causing the toilet to leak or function improperly is to get a bird s eye view of the situation. Sure, you may n

Bathroom Demolition: Things To Know Before Tearing It Apart!

There s one common denominator that almost every homeowner refers to when discussing the lack of a bathroom remodel “it s just not in the budget.” It s true that renovating a bathroom can be quite the expensive project. According to the 2014 Cost vs. Value report, a midscale restroom remodel runs about $16,000. That being said the project brings a return on investment of about 73%, which is actually one of the better ROI percentages in the industry. Plus even more money can be recouped with a water saving toilet, sink, and shower that lowers utility bills. Now that the value of a bathroom remodel has been established, we must look for ways to lower the cost as much as possible. A great way to limit the financial pain of the entire project and to save budget room for other amenities is to DIY the demolition of the current bathroom. The task will involve some elbow grease and there s much more to demo than bashing walls with a sledgehammer (although that is one fun and stress-reliev

Branding through Content Marketing

So what is a brand? Contrary to popular belief, branding is not your company name, logo or tagline. It isn t what you think about your product or service, rather, it s what your audience think. In other words, a brand is a perception other people s perception about your company, products or services. Branding refers to the activities and procedures involved in influencing people s perceptions about you or what you offer. When thinking about how you want to brand your product or service. What you re really thinking is how you want your target market to perceive your product or service when it comes out on the market. A brand is a promise and at the same time an expectation of an experience. Your company name, logo, tag line and brand color scheme all contribute as a reminder of that experience. An irresistible brand meets or exceeds that promise, satisfying consumer expectations. Let s take Honda for example. What comes to mind is reliability and durability no wonder it s a best seller
