All things considered, you won’t see as many Millennial travelers taking vacations in the Midwest. It’s too boring. A report received by the Nevada Commission on Tourism on Wednesday said Millennials and young Generation X travelers crave activity-based destinations for skiing, mountain climbing and hiking.

So the Midwest is too boring for Millennials?  They must have omitted Minnesota - especially the Twin Cities which is seeing a real boost in young visitors because of the arts scene and great food. What's on your radar for 2014?

It has to be done in a way where the local communities are fully aware of the long-term impacts (positive and negative) of tourism, even sustainable tourism and with support from other models from similar communities. Too many times sustainable has meant displacing Indigenous Peoples from their own lands, or being "developed" by outside consultants and experts who receive funds instead of community members.
