Most bosses think mental illness does not warrant time off work – even though a quarter of employees suffer from such problems at some point each year.

Stress and depression are linked and the connection between stress, depression and safety is directly linked. One critical step in the right direction is not just to consider time-off because at that point it may be too late - look at what is contributing and causing stress in the workplace, e.g. understaffed, lack of resources.
