Dylan Jones's insight:

More bands, of any genre, not just metal are starting to stream their performances online, which not only gives listeners who don't have the chance to see and experience them live the next best thing, but also gives listeners a much higher quality than some guy out in the crowd with a phone, which leads to a better experience and quality control.

Dylan Jones's insight:

The fact that cities, and not only that, my home city, are starting to combat scalpers is good news all around. Venues will be able to collect more revenue to further enhance their services in the future, and people won't be getting screwed over by outragious prices for something that might not even be a legitimate ticket. Overall, it's good to see the city looking out for it's people along with business.

Mainstream collaborations are hurting the electronic music genre

Mainstream collaborations are hurting the electronic music genre | Live Music | Scoop.it

I agree whole-heartedly with the author Chris.  It's getting to be TOO mish-mashed.  But I guess it's all a matter of what consumers are wanting and willing to listen to.

Electronic dance music, or EDM as many refer to it, has been making big waves in the music industry within recent years. But now that electronic music has hit mainstream, it is bleeding together with other genres, creating one unified sound.

Dylan Jones's insight:

Pros: Electronic music is dabbling with other genres, giving certain music/genre a new light, or a new approach.

Cons: Electronic music is becoming diluted, stretching too far and too thin, giving people too much, and possibly wearing itself out.

New fees for international musicians bad news for smaller clubs, live ... | Live Music | Scoop.it
Canada's independent music scene, particularly smaller clubs and live venues, are facing potentially devastating fees for bringing international musicians to their venues. Changes to federal regulations surrounding foreign ...
Dylan Jones's insight:

It's quite a shame to see that Canada has taken this stance with international artists, it really stunts international artists ability to reach out to their Canadian fans, and puts a huge burden on smaller venues who were the main group who brought international artists over. And when you look into it even more, it could potentially ruin big festivals ability to produce acts, as the fees would heap up monumentally and swiftly.
