Burgeoning digital channels and new avenues of customer insight give marketers new opportunities to build affinity and sales through direct marketing.
May Elizbeth 's insight:

This article draws upon the fact that a mix of direct marketing campaigns have become beneficial for both marketers and consumers nowadays due to the evolving digital media such as email, blogs, Facebook, twitter and other online interactions. The author argued that effective direct marketing tools are advantageous for marketers since it is a way for them to maintain a direct contact with their customers that enhances the emotional bonds between them.

Direct marketing promotions are also beneficial to customers in the sense that, most of the consumers today including myself, prefer to receive an alert of a new product, special sale or a specific promotion in the easiest and most convenient way possible, mobile marketing for instance, where I can almost find anything in just one click.

One specific example given in this article is a short-haul European airline easyJet, where it shows in figures how the company's successful direct marketing efforts have resulted to increased profit and improved overall customer experience.
