Prosecutors in the trial of the US soldier who is accused of leaking classified information say he was driven by arrogance.

Sad some people consider him a hero when he exposed critical information that could have put the US and our troops in harms way. Heard even Osama had access to some of the info this fool leaked to Wikileaks. Assange and Manning should both be tried for espionage and endangering national security.

Heroic Neighbor rescues 3-year-old boy being mauled by 2 pit bulls | Littlebytesnews Current Events | Scoop.it
Willie Riley was cooking chicken gizzards and watching “Law and Order” when a frantic girl banged on his back door yelling that dogs were attacking her 3-year-old brother. Riley, 48, found two pit bulls biting the boy in the house behind his.
littlebytesnews's insight:

Thank God he heard her knocking and was there to help. Poor little boy....too many times these pit bulls have been abused and raised to kill, it's a shame because some can be good dogs if they were raised in the proper environment, but if they've been abused or bred to fight/kill they are dangerous!

Birds of a feather...all of Obama's close friends are cop haters, former domestic terrorists and anti-American communists from Bill Ayers to Frank Marshall Davisl, who mentored him as a young child/teen.

It's time for Holder, Obama and the rest of this corrupt administration to go to jail!!

Passing a shield law would give the govt power to determine who has right to free speech

Passing a shield law would give the govt power to determine who has right to free speech | Littlebytesnews Current Events | Scoop.it
With the discovery that the Department of Justice had secretly obtained phone records from the Associated Press, members of Congress have suggested enacting a shield law for the media.

A shield law would open the door to more government abuse of power. In the last few years, the executive branch has attempted to dismantle the rule of law by unilaterally deciding which laws to enforce and which to ignore. If the federal government were to seize the ability to determine which rights the American people can exercise and which rights they cannot, the American way of life would cease to exist.
What is truly disheartening, is that this subject matter should not even be needing to be discussed in Congress or anywhere else. The Constitution guarantees everyone the freedom of speech ,and the freedom of the press.
Any American has the right to print, broadcast or make any statement they wish. The reason congress is talking about a shield law is because it will give them another way to infringe on our rights.
Passing a shield law would give the government the power to determine whether certain types of speech were acceptable as media or unacceptable because it wasn’t in line with the narrative of the day. The shield law is designed to give the politicians a shield from criticism by giving them the authority to define speech in a way that protects them.

yongyee yang's curator insight, September 25, 2013 12:31 PM

I think that this article is very important. It talks about a shield law that would "protect" politicians from criticism. Something interesting about this though is that the government could easily abuse this by determining which rights that the americans could use. They could determine certain types of speech unacceptable. I honestly don't agree with this law because we the people have the freedom to speech.

Joe Blauw's comment, October 3, 2013 10:57 AM
If people are afraid of being criticized for something by the people then they should re think what they're doing. Not make a law against criticism.
Anthony Kemmer's curator insight, August 17, 2014 5:26 PM

This article talks about a shield law. There has been a discovery that the government hacked into phone records and members of congress have suggested enacting a shield law.

Scalia Warns: Your DNA can be Taken and Entered into a National DNA Database

Scalia Warns: Your DNA can be Taken and Entered into a National DNA Database | Littlebytesnews Current Events | Scoop.it
In the landmark case of Maryland v. King,  the Supreme Court ruled 5 to 4  that a warrant is not needed to take your DNA.
littlebytesnews's insight:

I feel this is a bad decision and am surprised Scalia voted along with the liberal judges on this issue. It seems to me it is a violation of privacy especially if you haven't been charged/convicted with a crime. If after a trial you are fouond guilty then I can see collecting this info to keep in a national database, but not if you are found innocent and released. It's bad enough they get your fingerprints when you are arrested for something, why isn't that enough to keep a database?? Keeping a national database of people's DNA seems like it could lead to greater risk of identity theft and other scrupulous behavior.

UNCONSTITUTIONAL:UN Arms Trade Treaty Opens for Signature Monday | Littlebytesnews Current Events | Scoop.it
The first international treaty regulating the multibillion-dollar global arms trade opens for signature Monday with some key arms sellers and buyers expected to be among several dozen nations that sign.
littlebytesnews's insight:

The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on the import and export of small firearms. The ban would have affected all private gun owners in the U.S. , and had language that would have implemented an international gun registry on all private guns and ammo.

Astonishingly, 46 of our United States Senators were willing to give away our Constitutional rights to a foreign power. These Senators voted to let the UN take our guns.

DHS Can’t Locate 266 Illegal Overstays that ‘Pose National Security’ Risks

DHS Can’t Locate 266 Illegal Overstays that ‘Pose National Security’ Risks | Littlebytesnews Current Events | Scoop.it

– The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) cannot find 266 potentially dangerous immigrants who have overstayed their visas, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO).

According to testimony from Rebecca Gambler, director of the Homeland Security and Justice for GAO, on May 21, 2013 before the House Subcommittee on Border and Maritime Security, DHS identified 1,901 illegal overstays of concern in 2011. As of March 2013, 14 percent remain missing.

The 1,901 cases were reprioritized for further investigation by DHS “because the subjects of the records could pose national security or public safety concerns.”

Of those that pose security threats, 266 could not be located, and nine individuals had been arrested.

The report said 481 (25.3 percent) of the cases were given to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) division, because they presented “potential public safety threats.” ERO is “responsible for identifying and apprehending aliens who are subject to removal from the country, detaining these individuals when necessary, and removing aliens subject to removal from the United States.”

Also, 302 (15.9 percent) of the illegal overstays were in the process of changing their status to continue living in the U.S., and 711 (37.4 percent) had left the country.

The findings are based on a DHS review of a backlog of 1.6 million overstays in the summer of 2011. According to the report, 863,000 cases were removed, having found that the individuals left the country or were in legal status.

Visa overstays pose a significant national security risk, according to Gambler, since one-fourth of the terrorists who carried out 9/11 were in the country illegally, overstaying their visas.

“We have reported that most overstays are likely motivated by economic opportunities to stay in the United States beyond their authorized periods of admission,” Gambler said. “However, overstays could pose homeland security concerns—for example, 5 of the 19 September 11, 2001, hijackers were overstays.”

Other examples include, Hosam Smadi, a Jordanian national, who overstayed his visa and plotted to blow up a Dallas skyscraper in 2009, and Amine El Khalifi, a Moroccan who was living past his visa since 1999 and was arrested for plotting to bomb the U.S. Capitol last year.

Top attorney regarding Fox News case: Curbing liberty for expediency equals ‘tyranny’

Top attorney regarding Fox News case: Curbing liberty for expediency equals ‘tyranny’ | Littlebytesnews Current Events | Scoop.it
What's it called when the government kind of accuses a reporter of a criminal violation but then says it won't prosecute?

Schulz doesn’t dispute that the government has considerable national-security imperatives in the Rosen case. The problem, he says, relates to how it chooses to pursue them. “There are ways to investigate and this isn’t the way,” he notes.

And then the kicker: “Limiting liberty in the interest of expediency is the definition of tyranny,” says Schulz.

littlebytesnews's insight:

But Obama says tyranny doesn't exist....see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil....as long as his administration is in control spying on reporters, harassing conservatives, prolife, Christians and patriots is just part of the Chicago thug way.

Time to Impeach&Arrest This Traitor POTUS! Obama shares U.S. naval strategy with China | Littlebytesnews Current Events | Scoop.it
This spring, China's navy accepted the Pentagon 's invitation to participate in the 2014 Rim of the Pacific — RIMPAC — naval exercise to be held off Hawaii. This will be the first time China takes part in the biennial event.
littlebytesnews's insight:

I'm tired of the scandals and corruption in this administration. Someone needs to take serious action and do something before this treasonous POTUS destroys us completely economically and militarily. He is working on every angle of destroying our countries sovereignty, our Constitutional rights and everything that makes America great. He has done nothing to improve our economic situation, strengthen our military and status in the world but has brought us down, criticized us, belittled us and apologized for America's greatness.

If it were not for America's greatness he would not even have been allowed to remain in America considering his dad came here on a student visa. His father would have never met his mother! Sadly they did meet and now the product of their anti-American relationship and socialist, communist past has combined to create this monsterous POTUS and his administration of corruptocrats.

We are being run by a thugocracy, a Chicago style mafia, with socialist, communist, Marxist leanings, who is willing to appease Islam and deny there is a war on terror because he is afraid to insult Islam. It's wreckless, it's dangerous and everything he is doing is undermining our sovereignty and security!

I'm sick of this idiot and his corrupt admin running our country to the ground. Birds of a feather flock together and these dirty birds are crapping all over us, while the media is just now barely starting to wake up!! The American people MUST demand impeachment hearings and we must demand Obama,  Holder, Sebelius, Incompetano and the rest of them are held accountable for numerous breaches to our Constitution, national security and safety, as well as our freedoms and rights.
