After the nightmare of Barack Obama's supine performance in the first Presidential debate, the Democrats desperately needed to wake up and feel their pulses again at last night's vice-presidential contest: and on this, admittedly narrow measure,...

Jane Horton began crying on the other end of the phone when she learned that Mitt Romney had been using the story of her husband, Chris Horton, who was killed in Afghanistan, as a part of his stump speech. ...
"To be honest, I've been through a lot and I'm not a super emotional person but it brings me to tears," Horton said in an interview with ABC News, after being informed of her husband's newfound spot on the national stage. "Not that he's telling my story, but that he's telling my husband's story, it means the world to me.
"One of the last things my husband said to me before he was killed, when I would ask him, 'Chris, what do you need over there? What can I send you?' he said, 'I need a new president,'" Horton recalled.
Biden Contradicted “Three State Department Officials And The Former Head Of Diplomatic Security In Libya.” “Vice President Joe Biden claimed that the administration wasn’t aware of requests for more security in Libya before the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. mission in Benghazi during Thursday night’s debate, contradicting three State Department officials and the former head of diplomatic security in Libya.” (Josh Rogin, “Biden Contradicts State Department On Benghazi Security,” Foreign Policy, 10/11/12)
“Two Security Officials Who Worked For The State Department In Libya … Repeatedly Requested More Security And Two State Department Officials Admitted They Had Denied Those Requests.” “In fact, two security officials who worked for the State Department in Libya at the time testified Thursday that they repeatedly requested more security and two State Department officials admitted they had denied those requests.” (Josh Rogin, “Biden Contradicts State Department On Benghazi Security,” Foreign Policy, 10/11/12)
THE FACTS: “This Was Contradicted By State Department Officials Just This Week, In Testimony Before A Congressional Panel And In Unclassified Cables Released By A Congressional Committee.” “But this was contradicted by State Department officials just this week, in testimony before a congressional panel and in unclassified cables released by a congressional committee. ‘All of us at post were in sync that we wanted these resources,’ said Eric Nordstrom, the top regional security officer in Libya earlier this year. A Utah national guardsman who led a security team, Lt. Col. Andrew Wood, said: ‘We felt great frustration that those requests were ignored or just never met.’” (Glenn Kessler, “Fact Check: State Department Contradicts Biden,” The Washington Post’s The Fact Checker, 10/11/12)
NBC’s Andrea Mitchell: “The State Department Did Know In Real Time From Videos That Requests For More Security Resources Had Been Made And Were Turned Down. A State Department Official Acknowledged That Testifying On Capitol Hill Only Yesterday.” NBC’s ANDREA MITCHELL: “Vice President Biden called the deaths a tragedy but he then claimed that the Obama administration did not know that Ambassador Stevens and other personnel on the ground had been asking for more security help.” VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: “We weren’t told they wanted more security again. We did not know they wanted more security again. And by the way, at the time we were told exactly — we said exactly what the intelligence community told us that they knew. That was the assessment.” MITCHELL: “It was an assessment but the State Department did know in real time from videos that requests for more security resources had been made and were turned down. A state department official acknowledged that testifying on Capitol Hill only yesterday.” (NBC, 10/11/12)
THE FACTS: “Senior State Department Officials Told A House Committee They Turned Down Requests From The U.S. Embassy In Libya To Send More American Military Personnel To Guard The Diplomatic Facilities.” “One day earlier, however, senior State Department officials told a House committee they turned down requests from the U.S. embassy in Libya to send more American military personnel to guard the diplomatic facilities.” (Meghan McCarthy, Katy O’Donnell, Josh Smith, and Sara Sorcher, “Fact Check: The Vice Presidential Debate Between Biden And Ryan,” National Journal, 10/11/12)
“Charlene R. Lamb, A Deputy Assistant Secretary For Diplomatic Security, Told Lawmakers She Refused Requests For More Security In Benghazi.” “Ryan is right, judging by testimony from Obama administration officials at a congressional hearing this week. Charlene R. Lamb, a deputy assistant secretary for diplomatic security, told lawmakers she refused requests for more security in Benghazi, saying the department wanted to train Libyans to protect the consulate. ‘Yes, sir, I said personally I would not support it,’ she said.” (Calvin Woodward, “FACT CHECK: Slips On Libya, Syria, Auto Bailout,” The Associated Press, 10/11/12)
“Eric Nordstrom, Who Was The Top Security Official In Libya Earlier This Year, Testified He Was Criticized For Seeking More Security.” “Eric Nordstrom, who was the top security official in Libya earlier this year, testified he was criticized for seeking more security. He said conversations he had with people in Washington led him to believe that it was ‘abundantly clear we were not going to get resources until the aftermath of an incident. How thin does the ice have to get before someone falls through?’” (Calvin Woodward, “FACT CHECK: Slips On Libya, Syria, Auto Bailout,” The Associated Press, 10/11/12)
The list of lies continues at the link...but this was one of the biggest lies and worst lies he could have made, four people are dead and there is a Congressional investigation going on because security was breached and denied. What was he thinking making such a blatant lie???
There's no doubt that one of the biggest stories of Thursday night's vice presidential debate was the smirking, laughing, and huffing of Joe Biden (see our post on the reaction here). Don't believe us?
A journey into the places, people, and decisive moments that made the men who are competing for the presidency.

HIGHLIGHTS 'He told us his father was an Indonesian king and... he was a prince' Why Hawaii is important to understanding Obama Growing up 'hapa haole' An ugly racial incident The Choom Gang's reputation
Tell me a little bit about the reputation. What's the reputation of the school?
I guess that really depends who you talk to. I think a fair assessment is that it is a very strong school academically and athletically. You'll hear it referred to I think by some people as the rich-kid haole school, you know, white-kid school, haole slang for Caucasian in Hawaii. It really means foreigner
So what do we know about Obama and his background? He wasn't rich. Would he have needed help? How did he fit into this --
My understanding is that Barry -- and that's what we called him, so I'm not meaning to be disrespectful, but I'm going likely to refer to him as Barry for the most part.
Delphi Salaried Retirees Association (RT @RightWingAngel: "@PensionRestore @RightWingAngel Bachus is 4th House Committee Chair to demand FULL transparency from Obama Adm on http://t.co/1jpgTIdj "...)...
LBN: The Obama administration denied them their pensions because they were not part of the Auto Union, but the ones who were part of the Union were 'bailed out' when Obama bailed out GM.
Powerful House Ways and Means Committee chairman Rep. Dave Camp announced Wednesday morning that documents his committee obtained prove political appointees in President Barack Obama’s administration were “clearly involved” in the decision to terminate 20,000 non-union Delphi salaried retirees’ pensions during the 2009 auto bailout.
“Treasury was clearly in the center of the decision to terminate the pensions of Delphi’s salaried workers,” Camp said in a release. “Instead of withholding important documents, Treasury should release all documents without further delay and give these hardworking Americans answers as to why Treasury believed they were not entitled to their full pensions. I have serious concerns about this Administration picking winners and losers in Delphi’s bankruptcy.”
The finding directly contradicts the testimonies of several Obama administration and White House officials, and means several communications the Treasury Department sent to Congress may have been false.

I don't think they will see the economy imporving anytime soon with Obam as President with gas prices up and the number of people on food stamps going up and a large majority of teens, minorities/hispanics&blacks underemployed or unemployed.
Pursuant to a poll taken by Military Times, sixty-six percent of the men and women who serve in the U. S. military polled indicated that if the election were held today, they would cast their vote for Mitt Romney while only 26% would cast their vote for Barack Obama....
Pundits—and the public, according to a CNN poll —are split on who won the vice-presidential debate but most agree that the feisty meeting had a lot more to offer viewers and voters than the first Obama-Romney debate.
SpainHas a hurricane, tsunami, or flood hit Spain that I’m not aware of? If not then why is the Spanish Red Cross collecting money to help their fellow country man?
via Lori Wallach Boxer As this article states, the Red Cross is out soliciting donations around Spain because people are beginning to starve there. Imagine. This is a country where just 4 short years ago, American politicians, including Obama, were pointing to Spain as the model for how to turn an economy around!
The reason why so many people in Spain are needing assistance is because of the ideology the majority of the Spanish have embraced over the decades. Spain (and Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece) are suffering the effects of what happens when individuals embrace the ideas of collectivism and elect politicians who put those ideas into action—such as their most recently departed President Don José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero (of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party), who served two terms. Gee, ya think there’s a connection between 8 years of socialism and the accelerated downfall it finds itself in today?
Spain is the case study for how collectivism fails even when its shrouded in ”democracy.” As Obama and others HOPE for Amercia, Spain was on the forefront of the green economy movement and over the last decade has seen massive government intervention into every aspect of the economy. As I said above, 4 years ago, Obama and others held them up as a model.
25% of children are living under the poverty level;
Old people now have their children and their grandchildren depending on their pensions;
Spain is in its second recession in three years, and has near 25% unemployment.
Spain is in very bad shape, and the reason why is simple. The people of Spain (and Portugal, Ireland, Italy and Greece), just as the growing number of dependent parasites in America, have traded liberty for “security” (i.e., free, guaranteed stuff paid for by everyone else), and now they have less and less of both. This is what happens when individuals forget they have a God-given right ONLY to their OWN life, liberty and property.
At a hearing on Capitol Hill Republicans yesterday sought to eviscerate the Obama administration over its handling of the assault on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, saying officials failed to heed security warnings and dissembled in their public statements in its aftermath.
Opening the politically charged session, Congressman Darrel Issa said warnings from US personnel in Libya about the worsening security situation were ignored. "They repeatedly warned Washington officials about the dangerous situation in Libya," he said, adding that the administration refused to respond because it was "preoccupied with the concept of normalisation" in Libya and didn't want to acknowledge that terror threats existed there.
Among those called to testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee were two senior State Department officials responsible for the security of US diplomats, as well as Lieutenant-Colonel Andy Wood, a former head of US security who has said calls by himself and by Ambassador Stevens in the months before the attack for beefed-up measures in Benghazi were ignored in Washington.
Last month The Independent revealed the US State Department had credible information that American missions were in danger of being targeted 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert.
Noting that in June an attack was launched on a convoy bearing the British ambassador in Benghazi, Lt-Col Woods said he had been concerned about insufficient security: "Libyans struggled with the transitional government hesitating to make decisions... fighting between militias was common," he told the hearing. "The security in Benghazi remained a struggle throughout my time there."
Earlier he told CBS News: "We tried to show them how dangerous and how volatile and just unpredictable that whole environment was over there. So to decrease security in the face of that is just unbelievable."
In written testimony, Lt-Col Wood, who served in Libya until early August, said: "The RSO [regional security officer] struggled to obtain additional personnel there [in Benghazi], but was never able to attain the numbers he felt comfortable with."
How anyone can defend the indefensible is beyond me. To deny the requested security due to imminent threats and previous violence shows pure incompetence and then to claim it was due to a video shows how low DEMs will go to cover-up the truth. The Obama administration is more concerned with covering up the truth and getting Obama re-elected rather than the safety and security of US diplomats around the world. How can he be trusted to lead the country and protect us from terrorism when he won't admit we are at war with terrorists

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee leaders have sent a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton asking why requests for more protection were denied to the U.S. mission in Libya by Washington officials prior to the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens. The denials came after repeated attacks and security threats to U.S. personnel.
BOSTON -- The attack on the U.S.consulate in Libya became a major issue on the campaign trail and the mother of a Navy Seal killed in the violence is voicing her anger that Mitt Romney is speaking ab...
“I met some remarkable people, one of whom was a former navy seal. I just learned a few days ago that he was one of the two former navy seals killed in Benghazi. It broke my heart,” Romney said to a crowd on the campaign trail.
"I don't trust Romney. He shouldn't make my son's death part of his political agenda. It's wrong to use these brave young men, who wanted freedom for all, to degrade Obama,” said Barbara Doherty, Glen’s mother.
The Romney campaign told BuzzFeed the candidate would stop mentioning Doherty on the stump. Meanwhile, a friend of Doherty’s told a Seattle radio station Doherty remembered Romney repeatedly introducing himself at the Christmas party.
LBN: I'd think the mother would not politicize her sons death by mentioning her distrust for Romney. I think what Romney said was respectful and wasn't political. She said she distrusts Romney....mentioning he had met her son is not politicizing anything. He was just expressing his respect and emotions realizing he had met Glen Doherty at a party.
Republicans hit back, saying the GOP-controlled House has voted for money to ensure the safety of diplomatic staff overseas, and accused Democrats of using last week’s violence to score cheap political points.
“It is extremely distasteful that some ill-informed Democrat staff are using the instability and violence abroad to score cheap political hits,” said Jennifer Hing, communications director for the House Appropriations Committee.
“For over a decade, the Congress has made strong and necessary investments to ensure the safety and security of our diplomatic facilities and staff overseas,” Hing said.
“These investments will continue to be a priority, and the committee will continue to make decisions that focus funding on programs that have the most benefit to the American people — both here and abroad.”
Democrats enacted $1.803 billion for embassy security, construction and maintenance for fiscal 2010, when they still controlled the Senate and House. After Republicans took control of the House and picked up six Senate seats, Congress reduced the enacted budget to $1.616 billion in fiscal 2011, and to $1.537 billion for 2012.
The administration requested $1.654 billion for the State Department’s Worldwide Security Protection program for fiscal 2012. House Republicans proposed funding the program at $1.557 billion. Congress eventually enacted $1.591 billion after the Senate weighed in.
For fiscal 2013, the administration requested $2.15 billion in funding for the worldwide security protection program, a larger increase from the previous year. The House countered with a proposal to increase the program to $1.934 billion.
The House appropriations bills funding the State Department and foreign operations for fiscal 2013 and 2012 did not receive floor votes as standalone bills. Instead, they were used or intended as starting points for negotiations with the Senate and the administration.
House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers (R-Ky.), who formerly headed the subcommittee with jurisdiction over the State Department, has worked to improve the security of diplomatic facilities since the 1998 embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. That effort has resulted in the completion of 94 new diplomatic facilities and the transfer of 27,000 people to more secure places, according to a House GOP aide.
LBN: Quite a story and background on the funding....while the Obama admin tries to put the blame on cuts made by the GOP;it states these were proposed cuts, therefore not actually passed?
I hope they get to the bottom of it regardless who's at fault, in the meantime there are four Americans dead and several children who won't have father's to see them grow up. The bottom line is this was a planned terror attack and the Obama admin failed to heed the warnings, especially after several previous attacks in the months ahead and the US Ambassador who received death threats on Facebook and requested additional security.
In Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, Nevada and Pennsylvania, Democrats have an edge over Republicans in voter registration...
Bloomberg News, which first reported on this phenomenon, also cites independent voters as a fast-growing demographic in these states. The report shows that the number of independent voters grew by about 764,000 total in six states - Bloomberg does not take Pennsylvania, which CBS News does not consider a toss-up state, into account.
Overall, even while Democrats lead Republicans in voter registration in several of these states, Bloomberg also points out that registration is up for Republicans by nearly 195,000 for Republicans and down approximately 258,000 for Democrats. But in 2008, enthusiasm ran high for Democratic voters, while a prolonged Republican primary in 2012 is likely to have helped boost GOP registration.
Bloomberg also notes that high numbers of voter registration doesn't necessarily engender strong turnout.
LBN: Yeah and how many are voting/registering more than once under fake names??

(Reuters) - A new South Carolina law that generally requires voters to show photo identification does not discriminate against racial minorities but cannot go into effect until the start of next year, a federal court ruled on Wednesday.
The U.S. District Court three-judge panel said too little time remains before the November 6 general election for state officials to implement the law this year. The decision was unanimous.
The requirements are necessary to deter fraud, they say, although examples of in-person voter impersonation are rare. Democrats argue the laws are intended to depress turnout among groups that support them.
The U.S. Justice Department opposed the South Carolina law, arguing it runs afoul of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, a landmark of the U.S. civil rights movement.
LBN: I still find it hard to believe this was not already a law. It makes common sense to require photo ID when voting, especially with all the fraud these days. We have to show it for almost everything else, why not to vote?? Voting is a privilege and a right only granted to US citizens who have the legal authority to vote. If you are a criminal on parole and have lost your right to vote you can not vote. If you are in the country illegally you do not have a right to vote. But, of course this is all common sense yet liberals and the Obama administration turn everything into a race issue, they'd rather claim it is discriminatory to require photo ID rather than protect our democracy and our voting rights. They are counting on the illegal, and criminal vote, in addition to the entitlement voters to get re-elected.
