[Análise] Especial Distopias: Parte I

[Análise] Especial Distopias: Parte I | Litteris | Scoop.it

Naomi Alderman: Three things really fascinate me about the new digital writing toolkit: the possibility of increased immersion in a story, the ability to represent choice, and the way the audience can influence the story.

"I write serious literary novels – and I write videogames. . . . lead writer and co-creator (with games company Six to Start) of Zombies, Run!

You have to go out running to get supplies. That's you really running, in the real world. Yes, it's a game you have to get off your bum to play. We track where you go via GPS and an accelerometer, reward you with (fictional) item pickups, and tell you a story in audio drama clips that alternate with tracks of your own music.

Naomi Alderman teaches both creative writing and digital media as a professor at Bath Spa University.

How To Write Fiction Without The Fuss: editing – chop until you drop? | Litteris | Scoop.it

Welcome to Part Twenty-Eight of this popular series. This week, novelist and publisher Lucy McCarraher shows you how to edit your story – often thought to be the most important part of the fiction writing process.

"Editing is like pruning the rose bush you thought was so perfect and beautiful until it overgrew the garden.”

The 1709 Blog: What's NOT in a quote? The answer is: copyright infringement

The 1709 Blog: What's NOT in a quote? The answer is: copyright infringement | Litteris | Scoop.it

Woody Allen's 2011 film Midnight in Paris includes a scene in which Gil says "The past is not dead. Actually, it’s not even past. You know who said that? Faulkner. And he was right. And I met him, too. I ran into him at a dinner party."

Apparently Sony had not sought permission to include this quote from Requiem for a Nun, which contains the statement "The past is never dead. It's not even past.” Therefore, the owners of the rights to the book decided to file a lawsuit, claiming copyright infringement, commercial appropriation and violation of the Lanham Act.

Copyright extremism - and greed. It's about time the "rights" to long dead authors of any work should have a time limit. If he Copyright extrmists had their way Shakespeare would still be "owned" by them. It's the author who owns his or her work and should benefit. Not his decendents in perpetuity.
