Working towards Being a Media literate -views from Morocco

Working towards Being a Media literate -views from Morocco | Litteris | Scoop.it

Basing on Barthes’s (1982) statement “We need to deconstruct the world to remake it,” deconstructing media messages are said to be the first step to understand what positions that media owners stand on. Before interpreting a text an analyst should know the source of the message, know the targeted audiences, decipher the text, go into implications and subtexts, and pinpoint persuasion techniques. A media analyst should bear in mind that the story is never completely covered. This explains the differences in media coverage and how the same event can be reported differently.

Michael Michalko on how to “crack the barriers to creativity”

Michael Michalko on how to “crack the barriers to creativity” | Litteris | Scoop.it

Here are his suggestions, accompanied by my annotations.

o Knowing how to see, not just look at: Beware of “the invisibility of the obvious” by being alert, very alert.

o Making a thought visible: I agree with Dan Roam that the best way is to use simple drawings.

o Thinking fluently: Part of this is “flow” as defined by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and part is continuity and cohesion.

o Making novel combinations: That’s how liquid paper, Velcro, and Mary Kay cosmetics were “discovered.” Mary Kay Ash added a fragrance to leather softner and then….

o Connecting the unconnected...

How to Get Your Target Market to Follow You on Twitter

How to Get Your Target Market to Follow You on Twitter | Litteris | Scoop.it

Most people have a love/hate relationship with Twitter. You either REALLY love it, or you think it is a pointless cesspool of crap.

There really is no *in between* like there is with FaceBook (I’ll be going over FaceBook training next).

Now, there are a few tricks to getting the most out of your twittering experience . You don’t want to give up on Twitter, because it is waaaaaaay easier to get a following on twitter than it is on FaceBook.

I think there is a saying that goes something like:

“If a stranger follows you on FaceBook you feel freaked out, if a stranger follows you on Twitter you’re like HECK YEAH!”

Maybe not that exactly, but you get the point =)

The trick is to KNOW who to follow. Fellow authors and spam bots will follow YOU no problem.

You can sign up for something like Twiends.com and get a bunch of follows in a few days (for free) and maybe you want to do that for some follow *padding* to make you look more legitimate.

Totally up to you.

However, in the end you need some TARGETED followers.

What is your target market? READERS.

So what do you do to find these illusive readers?

Make sure you are sitting down for this – it’s going to BLOW YOU away in its simplicity.
