With LinkedIn continuously improving the functionality, it's no wonder 50% of people say they are more likely to buy form a brand they engage with on LinkedIn. It's critical that companies pay attention and adapt to the passive potential clients or customers that are searching for them on LinkedIn. Huge missed opportunities if they've not been at least personalized their profile and instructed employees to associate with their account - especially senior management. Plus, imagine the simplicity of having the company initiate a social good or trend-watch post that engages their followers -- and gets SHARED by all their client-facing employees as a matter of course.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll start sending invitations to try LinkedIn Contacts to a limited number of members in the United States.

This is by far the most sweeping set of features to leverage your contacts on LinkedIn and beyond. Before, you had to have a premium subscription to 'save profiles' - now, you don't. Before, you had to keep track of how you knew the person with 'tags' (an often unused functionality by way of my own unscientific study) - - now, it's right there in the 'relationship' pull-down. It's a much welcome addition to making LinkedIn more about the "relationship" you have. 

One draw-back, and hopefully it's just a matter of time before it comes to the inbox functionality > no more bulk messaging from the contact list. "send message" was a feature we could do once we selected contacts. No where to be found now...I'll miss you!!!
