LinkedIn – How to Add, Change or Remove Your Email Address on LinkedIn

LinkedIn – How to Add, Change or Remove Your Email Address on LinkedIn | LinkedIn | Scoop.it

We often see people logging onto their accounts with old email identities or receiving invitations to be “added to my professional network on LinkedIn” on their personal email accounts – when they already have a profile associated with their work email. Good news for you – there is no need for this!

You can chose which email address you log into LinkedIn with and also have more than one email address on your profile, after all there is only one of you isn’t there? If there’s two of your profiles on LinkedIn (or more – current record for a client is 6!) then read this blog.

To add an email address simply go to your privacy and settings, under your photograph (you have got a photograph haven’t you? If not read this LINK to go networking with a paper bag over your head) or alternatively go here https://www.linkedin.com/secure/settings.

From Selling to Connecting: How to Leverage Social Strategy to Boost Sales

From Selling to Connecting: How to Leverage Social Strategy to Boost Sales | LinkedIn | Scoop.it

Did you know that the average consumer is exposed to 5,000 marketing messages each day (CBS)? To deal with this information overload, consumers are tuning out left and right: the average CTR for display ads is a mere .1% (HubSpot), average cold call success rates are about 2% at best (Marketing Success), and email CTR is at a dismal 3% in the US (SilverPop).

Let’s face it – in an age where your customers have more options than there are minutes in the day, the last thing they want to hear is another sales pitch. Too many businesses lose sight of the fact that on the other ends of these marketing messages are people. And connecting with these people on a 1:1 level, whether they are searching for a new customer database or pair of shoes, is far more effective than blasting them with generic mass messages.

Connect 5: Five Minutes a Day to a Better LinkedIn Network

Connect 5: Five Minutes a Day to a Better LinkedIn Network | LinkedIn | Scoop.it

We spend a heck of a lot of time seeking out the next great connection.

That is what networkers do. We are always on the lookout because we know we are just a connection or two away from a great outcome.

But what about the last connection made and the one before that?

While we are busy looking forward, are we missing the opportunity to maximize the relationships that we have already forged?

Think about it this way. If you have a network of 500, 1000, or more contacts, how many times a year do you connect with each of those contacts in a year?

If you are like most networkers, you probably don’t speak with 80+ percent of those connections even once a year.

So really your 500 is now 100 or less. And there is nothing wrong with having 100 great contacts, but wouldn’t it be great to have a more meaningful relationship with all 500?

Although it may not be possible to put depth behind all 500 relationships, there is a reason you made those connections in the first place. Isn’t it worth taking the time to explore?

Use LinkedIn’s New Channels to Grow Your Business

Use LinkedIn’s New Channels to Grow Your Business | LinkedIn | Scoop.it

Social media’s most professional network is rolling out a new feature that could help your business grow. LinkedIn users can now follow channels, which are broken into broad-based topics such as marketing strategies, higher education and healthcare.

Once you follow a channel, it shows up on your home feed.

What’s the benefit, you ask? According to LinkedIn, following channels that are connected to your business will keep you ahead of industry trends and allow you to engage with business leaders.

Hope Katz Gibbs, president of Inkandescent Public Relations, says the new feature has a lot of potential in the business-to-business world. “By following channels you’ll start networking with others in your industry,” she said. “That connection builds trust.

Trust turns into recommendations for your business and recommendations turn into profits.”While there are many ways to use LinkedIn to grow your business, Gibbs offers these networking tips to get the most out of LinkedIn’s new channels.

Leads Take Hold as the Primary Goal of Content Marketing

Leads Take Hold as the Primary Goal of Content Marketing | LinkedIn | Scoop.it

Content marketing saw its importance balloon between 2012 and 2013. According to the digital marketing company that delivers branded newsletters and content for vertical markets IMN’s “2013 Content Marketing Survey Report,” the number of US companies with formal content marketing strategies in place jumped from 28% in 2012 to 49% in 2013, while those without a content strategy contracted from 26% to 18% during the same period.

And even if not all companies surveyed had a content marketing strategy in place at the time, another one-third said they were working on one, suggesting that by 2014, the percentage engaging in content marketing will only go up.

Did you catch this statistic:  This year, generating MORE leads was the #1 goal, cited by 44% of respondents, far ahead of any other response.  Content curation and sharing must be part of any social selling initiative!

Lydia's Marketing & Communication Consulting's curator insight, August 12, 2013 7:31 AM

More evidence on the increased emphasis of content as a way to drive leads (49% of co's have formal content marketing strategies in 2013, up from 28% in 2012). But this article also validates something I keep seeing -- that businesses are investing in content as a lever but struggle with the implementation, citing content marketing as one of the most difficult tactics to pull off. My opinion is more co's need to invest a bit more of the pie in thoughtful, well-managed implementation to get the results they need (i.e. create a strategy for the strategy).

Which financial institutions get LinkedIn? Jennifer Grazel, the social media network s global head of category development for financial services, offers up several examples.

What separates the financial institution social media winners from the losers? In all the use cases described in the article the ones who 'get' social media are not aggressively selling products. They are serving their core audience, establishing thought leadership and improving their net promoter scores, she says. "They're facilitating discussion, they're not actively pushing content at people. They're injecting themselves in the conversation."

And the losers? It's those organizations that have a publish mentality. They don't vary content or messages by platform nor do they take into account the different needs of their core audiences. Which group is your organization in?
