Social Media Monitoring Tool - How to use mention | Ian Cleary | Linked In Social | Scoop.it

Monitoring what people say about you or your business online is crucial.   It helps build relationships, generate leads and protect your reputation.  Using a Social Media Monitoring Tool is really an essential tool that should be part of your social media tool box.

In this article we outline how to use ‘Mention App’ to monitor the web and social media.  It is a very comprehensive and effective tool that is well worth exploring.

My personal experience with mention is very positive.  I have connected with so many people because mention notified me that they mentioned my name or company name and I wouldn’t have found it without using mention.  So the following information is well worth reading!...

How Can Social Media Leverage SEO?

How Can Social Media Leverage SEO? | Linked In Social | Scoop.it

"In the world of online marketing, there are two main things that every website owner is desperately trying to do.

The first is to increase their ranking on search engines through SEO.

The second is to create a social media presence and get customers and potential customers talking about them.

However in actual fact, these two things should be combined together instead of exclusively as in reality, social media can help to increase search engine presence.

In this article we define exactly what SEO and social media marketing are and then look at how they can work together to produce a combined strategy".

Could somebody give specific example. I suspect that 99.99% of the people who'd be reading this already know what SEO and Social Media is. Let's see some concrete examples. I have yet to see any specific examples from Scoop.it, RebelMouse or any of those others on what the real SEO benefits of using their platforms are....(and I'm assuming curation would be considered a form of social media).
wanderingsalsero's curator insight, March 7, 2013 4:29 AM

I'm still waiting for somebody to give specific examples of how curation helps with 'authority', page rank or any other aspect of SEO.  Sure...it's pretty.  But...so what?

That's not to say that I wouldn't or don't use Curation....'cause I DO.  But on the other hand, I don't do this for (much) money.

Today I confronted the two Martins. The Martin I THINK I am and the Martin who IS. Fascinating conversation and all from a little game. Brilliant.

New Data Supports the Case for More Twitter Automation | HubSpot

New Data Supports the Case for More Twitter Automation | HubSpot | Linked In Social | Scoop.it

Learn whether marketers should be automating their Twitter presences, based on some new data around the impact of automated tweets. A glance over the top Twitter users reveals an interesting pattern. Most of them are celebrities, well known media outlets, or sports teams. Every single account in the top few hundred most followed Twitter users is famous outside of Twitter. They didn’t get into the top lists because of their Twitter behavior; they got there because they’re famous. But a handful of accounts break this rule.

For example, @OMGFacts has 5.3 million followers, @BreakingNews has 5.2 million, @NoteBook has 4.1 million, @CarrollTrust has 3.8 million, and @WhatTheFFacts has 3.2 million. They don’t belong to previously famous entities, so how did they get so many followers? The answer is automation of high quality content. (Yes, the content still has to be high quality!) All of the non-famous accounts in the first few hundred of the top Twitter users are essentially automated, robotic content distribution services....

Laura Brown's comment, February 22, 2013 12:08 PM
Isn't that the same for any social media, not exclusive to Twitter?
Laura Brown's comment, February 22, 2013 12:13 PM
I don't think making more automated tweets is the right conclusion. Basically, the data says people who have more posts to Twitter get more response. That doesn't mean automating your Twitter posts will be a good thing. I think the writer takes a leap there. Mostly because I won't follow a Twitter account unless I see some real human posts versus links, promotional content and stuff that does not have a personal touch. You can see which Twitter accounts are never really accessed because those are the people who don't give personal replies when someone sends them a note. Or, it comes days later when they finally check in.
Jeff Domansky's comment, February 22, 2013 1:37 PM
Hi Laura, in my case, I still manually curate. I use auto to schedule posts, so I can use the time better to connect and engage. Your point is a good one re same for most social media. Though Twitter seems to have more tools to choose from.
