It’s pretty well known that using your client’s already existing contacts for link building is a great place to start. Your client already has their foot in the webmaster’s door, which makes asking for a link or continuing to grow the relationship much easier.

Getting links for converting traffic isn’t difficult if you know where to look. Sometimes it’s simply where competitors are not looking. Where do I look? Forums, yes forums and communities. I don’t mean to spam and “scale” this method. That is far from the point of this exercise. If it is quantity of links you’re looking for, look elsewhere.

As you begin your link audit, make sure to check the following areas to ensure an optimal link profile. Yes, PageRank isn't as important a metric as it used to be and certainly not something to obsess over. However, it is still a decent indicator of the authority of your website.

The lesson I learned was simple: contests are short-term marketing tactics which means the links and traffic they generate may be short-term links. You need long-term links for consistent rankings so find a way to redirect the contest (or coupon) page to a new promotion or a different information source such as a company blog. Keep your visitors engaged and give them a reason to return.

Pinterest is a fast growing platform and one where I have been carrying out a lot more work for clients in the past few weeks.
If you’ve never read the series before, let me explain how it works. The people being interviewed each submit a question or two that they themselves want to hear input on from the other panelists. No one sees the answers by the other panelists until the interview is published (I answer the questions myself before sending them to the rest of the panel). I’ve always felt this makes the series interesting for two reasons…
