This Is the Enormous Gigafactory, Where Tesla Will Build Its Future

This Is the Enormous Gigafactory, Where Tesla Will Build Its Future | Linguagem Virtual | Scoop.it
TWENTY MILES EAST of Sparks, Nevada, a factory is rising from the red dirt of the high desert. It doesn’t look like much—a few completed structures amid exposed steel girders—but this building, dubbed the Gigafactory, is the key to Elon Musk’s sweeping plan to remake transportation.

The Gigafactory is where Tesla Motors will build the batteries that power its electric vehicles. The company has long imported batteries from Asia, but if it is to meet its CEO’s goal of producing 500,000 cars a year, it must build those batteries here. There’s simply no other way to meet its own demand, because the company expects to use more batteries in 2020 than were produced worldwide in 2013.

“The factory is the machine that builds the machine,” Musk says, sitting in the lobby of his new building.

When finished, the Gigafactory will cover 5.8 million square feet. Musk, never given to understatement, promises it will be beautiful. Plans call for a jewel-shaped building topped by a roof glittering with solar panels.

The QR Links plugin has received a lot of stability fixes in its latest release. QR Links lets you to involve physical spaces and mobile phones in your Moodle experience. With a little creativity you can get your version of subject-savvy Pokémon Go!

Did you know: When students activities involve physical spaces, not only their spatial skills improve. Improvement in spatial skill tends to improve basic math skills such as arithmetic. This according to an article published in the Developmental Psychology Journal.

Besides providing an easy way for your students to access, save and share part of your course, QR codes have proven to be an easy and flexible solution to many related information problems. So why should learning be the exception?

The Future of Online Education

The Future of Online Education  | Linguagem Virtual | Scoop.it
We at Reverse Tide love to speculate about the future and we’re going to take on one of our favorite subjects… online education. For years, people have said that the future of education are MOOCs or other forms of online learning. The field has grown substantially from individual teachers to larger enterprises to bigger companies starting to get involved. There are more and more students across the world. However, where online education has struggled to hit the lofty predictions is through any replacement of traditional education sources. So where will online education be in the next decade? Here’s our predictions:

There are lots great books, blogs, and websites where you can learn about flipped learning (like the one you’re on right now!), but here is a short primer and set of examples that might help clarify some of the purposes, terms, and potential methods of flipping to teachers and administrators new to flip: http://bit.ly/Whatisflipin6min. To be clear, the flipped method of teaching is a broad spectrum, from basic flipped classroom, to flipped mastery, to gamification, and beyond.

Critical Thinking Exercises That Will Blow Your Students’ Minds

Critical Thinking Exercises That Will Blow Your Students’ Minds | Linguagem Virtual | Scoop.it

Real critical thinking exercises seek truth. It takes daring and independent thought to stray from conventional thinking and discover truths previously unfound. It could be said that critical thinking is at the heart of dispelling great myths about our world and changing the way a society views and acts in their world.

elearnspace › Adaptive Learners, Not Adaptive Learning

elearnspace › Adaptive Learners, Not Adaptive Learning | Linguagem Virtual | Scoop.it
Basically, we have to shift education from focusing mainly on the acquisition of knowledge (the central underpinning of most adaptive learning software today) to the development of learner states of being (affect, emotion, self-regulation, goal setting, and so on). Adaptive learners are central to the future of work and society, whereas adaptive learning is more an attempt to make more efficient a system of learning that is no longer needed.
