Research shows that how students engage with feedback is as important as its content

Research shows that how students engage with feedback is as important as its content | Cibereducação | Scoop.it
A new research review which consolidates thinking on how students engage with feedback has been published by psychologists at the University of Surrey and Aston University in Educational Psychologist. Run in collaboration with the Higher Education Academy (HEA), the project has also led to the launch of a 'Developing Engagement with Feedback Toolkit', which suggests interactive workshops and a feedback portfolio as ways of helping students to better engage with their feedback.

Why Meaningful Feedback Is So Important For Online Learning - eLearning Industry

Why Meaningful Feedback Is So Important For Online Learning - eLearning Industry | Cibereducação | Scoop.it
Meaningful feedback is a very important part of any learning environment, allowing learners to monitor and track their performance, while making sure they’re on the right path towards their goals. Feedback is also a valuable tool for educators, with discussions with learners helping content creators to assess the effectiveness of their materials and improve processes.

Should performance assessments replace standardized tests?

Should performance assessments replace standardized tests? | Cibereducação | Scoop.it

Many experts are advocating for US school districts to replace standardized tests with presentations, projects and portfolios -- particularly for struggling students. The experts say this approach more accurately reflects what students have learned, but critics worry that replacing exams could weaken education standards.

The Six Qualities of Good Feedback

The Six Qualities of Good Feedback | Cibereducação | Scoop.it
No matter what you do for a living, at some point or another you’re going to have to communicate how you feel about someone else’s work. On the surface, giving feedback may sound easy. However, when you’re put on the spot—whether it’s to share your thoughts on a new website design or on a colleague in a 360 review—the moments we’re asked to give feedback can be tough.

As part of my job on the New School MA TESOL program, I've been collating evaluations of the last semester's online courses. Moodle Feedback Activity for Mid-Module Evaluation

Moodle Feedback Activity for Mid-Module Evaluation | Cibereducação | Scoop.it
As part of the new mid-module evaluation process a regular, planned, timetabled, collaborative mid-module review should be regarded as standard and best practice and undertaken by all module leaders for each module. The style of mid-module review is up to the module leader, it should suit the module style, location and student group, and should be facilitated in collaboration with students. Formats could vary from online feedback (using Moodle/TextWall/Google Forms etc.), a ‘conversational’ approach, quick ‘Stop-Start-Continue’ feedback, questions from an agreed broad framework, written post-it feedback or a student representative focus group. The approach chosen would reflect the learning approach of the student group and module ‘style’ and the ethos and nature of the course.

One approach might be to use the Feedback activity in Moodle. The Feedback module allows you to create and conduct surveys to collect feedback. Unlike the Survey tool it allows you to write your own questions, rather than choose from a list of pre-written questions and unlike the Quiz tool, you can create non-graded questions. The Feedback activity is ideal for module or programme evaluations, and student responses can be set to ‘Anonymous’.

Some teachers aren’t fond of having their classroom interactions filmed and dissected. It may be viewed as intrusive and a way to unfairly criticize an educator’s methods. But one company is out to improve that process and has statistics to back it up. Insight Education Group recently announced the formation of a new company arm called ADVANCEfeedback. It was created after Insight Education Group conducted years of research in varied schools and districts across the country. For the purpose of professional growth and improvement of classroom instruction, ADVANCEfeedback aids educators in their quest for efficiency and better ways to advance participation within …

Teachers agree that technology is a fundamental tool nowadays, that can do so much for education, but normally we do not hear the main reasons. First: technology facilitates feedback and makes more meaningful this. Second: Technology can help us to find ideas and to make connections not only with the teacher also with the classmates and technology can help kids to make a difference, there are a lot of foundations or simple helping other people to understand topics or to develop skills.
