How do you know when it's time to let an idea go, or stop pushing to try to get an initiative approved or funded? Foghound's Lois Kelly shares some questions and techniques to consider.

Requires a bit more effort and dedication that using something like Google Alerts, but I think if you're prepared to continually refine who you're following, you're likely to hone in on content that has greater relevance. Delete the scoop?

"Task-layering" appears to be a kind of multi-tasking that works -- as opposed to the kind that degrades performance on each of the tasks we try to accomplish simultaneously.
Peter Skillen's curator insight,
April 2, 7:52 AM
What I find interesting is the work Benjamin Bergen describes in Louder Than Words. http://www.louderthanwordsbook.com/ People often ask can we multitask as if there is a 'yes' or 'no' answer. Clearly, situations matter. Bergen points to research that suggests if we visualize or imagine certain activities - like hitting a baseball - the same regions of the brain are activated and engaged as if we were actually hitting that baseball. So even though we might expect the visual region to light up because we are 'seeing' something in our mind's eye, it is actually a motor region that is engaged. This, therefore, impacts our multitasking abilities for another 'motor' task. --> I love the rich texture of these ideas. Delete the scoop?

This is a great video on innovation and remaining consistent in growing an organisation with a culture that is highly innovative
Christopher Yeh's curator insight,
June 13, 12:23 PM
"Building blocks" for an innovative culture includes hard-to-measure characteristics such as values, behavior, and climate. "An innovative climate," the authors write, "cultivates engagement and enthusiasm, challenges people to take risks within a safe environment, fosters learning, and encourages independent thinking."
John Michel's curator insight,
June 16, 9:17 PM
In markets characterized by rapid change and a ceaseless quest for the faster, better way to operate, one of the most prized corporate attributes is innovation. But many of the natural byproducts of corporate success—hierarchy, routinization, the elimination of risk—can stifle innovation. Delete the scoop?

Cooperation is more complicated than folk-theory would have it. Cooperation and competition co-evolve: Let's you and I cooperate to compete against them. And it seems that deception and cooperation also co-evolve. Delete the scoop?

Orianne Corman's comment,
April 17, 9:23 AM

Organizations led by courageous people, filled with courageous leaders and followers will be innovative. We need to move away from holding onto the past and pretending deck chairs rearranged on a sinking ship is sufficient.
Tony Brugman (Bright & Company)'s curator insight,
April 15, 9:17 AM
Great article by Dutch innovation professor Jeff Gaspersz on the role of leadership in fostering innovation. In short: While organizations "underutilize the creativity of their employees", stimulating creativity should be a "core task in leadership" and "will become a strategic priority."
According to Gaspersz, innovative leaders...
"...will challenge our old ideas and stimulate our curiosity in discovering new and unconventional viewpoints" "...encourage their employees to be courageous and give them the space to act and even break out of the formation" "...are (those) who stimulates me to think along new paths, question my own familiar practices and challenge my existing assumptions" Delete the scoop?
