Malaysia Airlines MH 17

Jessica Claire Taye's insight:

With technology/ the internet, we are able to get news on current affairs at the touch of our fingers. Just recently, I receive an update through twitter regarding the MH17 plane just before I went to bed at 2AM in the morning. Without such app, or people tweeting and retweeting about the catastrophe, I would not have known about it till it became a mainstream news.

Furthermore, after two air disasters within a span of months (MH350 & MH17), many net citizens believe that Malaysia Airlines won't be able to overcome the catastrophes as it has affected many people and the airline was deeply in debt even before such problems captured the world's attention..

Jessica Claire Taye's insight:

in this digital age, we find more and more children being exposed to media/ technology. one example of this was when i was called to babysit a little girl, and during this period, her mom would hand the child her mobile phone, or iPad so that the child can entertain herself.

in this age, and time, (or in the future), i believe more younger children will start having contact with a phone, iPad or some form of technology at a younger age. hence, despite technology being able to occupy a child, it may cause them to lose socializing skills with their peers

Jessica Claire Taye's insight:

in an advanced society like singapore, we not only purchase items from sites online, but also, go to online sites or media platform to look for business opportunities where we can share our ideas/ goods online for others to see. A good example of this would be my friend, where she posts pictures of her old goods, and sells them to others for half the price she bought. through such small businesses, individuals are able to be their own boss online, or earn an extra income part time!

Jessica Claire Taye's insight:

According to this link, the reality show TV star, Kim Kardashian ventures to new businesses and opportunities, such as video games and mobile game apps. This is said to be a smart move for her, as the 33-year old reality star earns over $200 million ever since the mobile app was released. In an interview, CEO Niccolo de Masi mentioned that the Kim Kardashian app might just be the biggest game of the year as it has been the 2nd highest downloaded game ever since its release.

Through new technology, and apps being made by people/ celebrities (such as the kim kardashian mobile app game), I feel that individuals like my 12-year old sister, who introduced the game to me, and kim kardashian's fans will be more connected to the reality star. Thus, I think through such technology, and innovation, we are all able to keep in touch or update ourselves with people/ celebrities we like.
