What to do with the Kids

What to do with the Kids | lifestyle | Scoop.it
If you are looking for ways to spend quality time with the kids, there are plenty of options in your own home or community. Here are five ideas. 1. Play backyard games. Get out the soccer ball, set up volleyball net, meet at the basketball hoop or gather other sports equipment. The key is not just to watch; get in on the action yourself. 2. Go old-school. Dig through your old board games, and plan an afternoon of checkers, Life, Monopoly or whatever games you have. See what games they know how to play, and teach them the rest. 3. Cook up some fun. Open the family cookbooks or ask the kids to research recipes online. Challenge them to find recipes for which you already have ingredients. Then spend a couple of hours making a couple of recipes and sit down to enjoy the snacks when you are done. 4. Crack open those craft boxes. We all have them: Craft gifts never opened, craft ideas the kids brought home from school or Scouts, crafts we’ve saved from our own childhood but never passed on. Pile them on the table and let the kids pick what they want to do. 5. Go to the library. Pick out some books or see what activities or programs your community library offers children and families. Chances are you will find story times, craft sessions, teen book clubs, video nights and other fun. When you hear the kids complain about being bored, it takes just a little effort to know what to do with the kids.

Days Out With Kids

Days Out With Kids | lifestyle | Scoop.it
Too often we hear our kids say they're bored. Perhaps you didn't get a chance to take a summer vacation this year, but don't worry, there is still plenty of places to take the kids somewhere fun before they head back to school. Depending on the age of your kids, most of these places cost little to no money. Free Activities For Kids Check with your local library. Many offer summer reading programs. Most libraries also offer story time. This is a great opportunity for your youngest to hear an engaging story while you enjoy a good book yourself. Why not pack a lunch and head to your local park for an afternoon of fun in the sun. Kids can play all day while you relax and enjoy some sun. Don't forget to bring sunscreen and plenty of water, especially if the weather is real hot. If you live close to the beach, you can have a picnic on the beach. Enjoy the sand and the ocean waves while the kids run around and burn off some of that energy. If your child loves animals and you don't live close to the zoo or if you don't have the money to visit the zoo, a trip to your local pet store may be just the ticket. Most pet stores carry everything for cute furry animals, to exotic creatures. If your child loves going to the aquarium, they can see all the fish at the pet store. For A Small Fee You can usually catch a bargain matinee movie for a small fee. The mall is also a great place to do some window shopping. Many toy stores offer a play area for kids to explore. See more ideas at days out with kids.

Family Days Out

Family Days Out | lifestyle | Scoop.it
Family days out can be a trial for every family. Finding something that everyone wants to do can be nearly impossible. Even though families are so diverse, it is still possible that you can have a successful family day out. If you do a little research on the locations around your home, there are sure to be several attractions that are family friendly. For a family day out you can pick something as simple as going to the local museum. Some places even have water parks, or theme parks that you can get a day pass too and enjoy as a family. Family days can even be other fun things like canoe trips, cooks outs, horseback riding, or family softball games. Every family is different and every family finds ways that they would rather enjoy one another's company. With some of these activities families can make it more competitive, and turn a family outing into an annual softball game, or an annual canoe trip. Spending the day together and coming up with a family day out can be tricky, you might have to rotate and each month you have each family member choose what they want to do for the family day. By letting each member have the opportunity to pick something, you're able to figure out what everyone enjoys doing. You might find that you and your mom, dad, brother or sister have much more I'm common than you originally thought. Each family days out is based off of the family, it can be a few hours or it can literally be an entire day long.

Places to take the Kids

Places to take the Kids | lifestyle | Scoop.it
So where do we take the kid? The obvious answers would be to just take them to a park. The real question is, what kind of park would you want to take the kids to. In this day and age your options are many. The easy option would be a regular outdoor park. Sure, there are swings and slides, and usually a jungle gym. Some even have grill areas so you can cook out. But what if you would like to add some adventure to your outing. You could take the kids to a theme park. At a theme park you will have entertainment, attractions and rides. No matter how old your kids are, you are sure to find something for every one at a theme park. If you are looking for a more relaxed day, you could take them to the lake. You can relax in the sand or even the shallow water while the kids swim and have fun. This can be an all day trip ending with happy tuckered out kids. Places to take the kids can really be a surprise if you are able to keep a secret. You can tell the kids you are going someplace they do not really like. And when you show up at the fair, watch them go crazy. Another place you could surprise your kids with is the zoo. Not only will they have fun, but they will also be learning. My favorite place to take kids would have to be the circus. You may have to wait until one comes to town, but you are guaranteed to be the worlds best parents, that day anyway. Follow us for more kids days out ideas.

Things to do with Kids

Things to do with Kids | lifestyle | Scoop.it
If you are a parent, then you already know that kids get bored easily. It can be tough to constantly find things to do to keep them happy and active. Fortunately, there are a few things to do with kids that everyone can enjoy. A Cool Camera One idea is to buy each child an inexpensive camera. Kids love taking pictures, and you can use your own camera to take pictures with them. The trick is to go on some adventures together to find cool things to take pictures of. You can explore your backyard to photograph insects or walk around the neighborhood to photograph cool vehicles or interesting signs. Once you take pictures, you can print them out, and everyone can create their own scrapbooks. This is a great way to spend family time together. Be Chefs Another great thing to do with kids is to cook together. Buy each child an apron and a chef’s hat, so the kids feel like real chefs. As you prepare meals together, make sure every child has a job to do. Some fruits can be cut with a spoon, or some kids can measure out the right amount of ingredients. Kids of any age enjoy mixing and stirring, so make sure every child gets a turn. Just be prepared for the messes that are sure to ensue. You can even make cleaning time fun by letting the kids use small brooms to clean up the floor. You don’t have to go far from home to find things to do with kids. You just have to be creative.

Fun & Educational Places to take your Kids

Fun & Educational Places to take your Kids | lifestyle | Scoop.it
On a quest to find fun and educational things to do with kids, it is always important to remember that wherever you take them, it will be a journey and a lifelong learning experience for them. One important thing that it will teach them when they become adults and parents is how to do the same with their children and that quality time with parents is not only a must but also a growing experience for the child. The zoo, an aquarium, a historical or health museum, a professional sporting event, NASA, the circus, a movie, the park, camping, an amusement park, a newspaper facilities tour, the airport, a yogurt store and library, police and fire events are all great places to take kids. All of the events above can enhance a child’s education and learning experience, teaching them about nature and animal life, marine and aquatic life, human life and the body and how to take care of it and prevent physical harm and disease, history, culture and native life in their community before the dawn of the industrialization and technology ages. A simple trip to the park for a picnic or just a day at play is meaningful to a child, especially when parents participate or the parent brings a few of the child’s friends to enhance the play experience. Children tend to feel most comfortable around familiar surroundings. If the child is in an unfamiliar environment, the comfort brought to the child will be the presence of a parent. Whatever your choice of place for day out with the kids, it will derive a learning experience that will enhance both their childhood and adulthood.
