No escape from history in Moscow

No escape from history in Moscow | Life in Moscow From an Expat Perspective | Scoop.it
As Russians remember the victims of the Stalinist purges, Daniel Sandford discovers that you do not have to look far to find history on your doorstep.

This is very true and it makes living in Moscow such a great and rich cultural experience.

I look at the database of people  killed during the Satlin purges: http://memoryfull.ru/purge/repressions.html and found many people killed in our street as we live very close to the center and the Kremlin, 5 minutes walk from old Arbat street

Dear Leaders: Humanize Your Brand - Forbes

Dear Leaders: Humanize Your Brand - Forbes | Life in Moscow From an Expat Perspective | Scoop.it
Back in ancient times (let's go with 1970s or 1980s) when mainframes ruled the world and “friends” were people you actually knew, the rules of engagement were very different. Companies and customers met when a transaction was taking place.
Anne Egros's insight:

Really liked this article :

Our social media culture allows brands to build emotional connections with their customers, to become a part of their lives, both in their homes and — done right — in their hearts.

The result of this new intimacy: your brand is humanized, customer loyalty skyrockets, performance and team morale is boosted.

Essential Expat: Simple steps to speedier settling in. - Defining Moves | Life in Moscow From an Expat Perspective | Scoop.it
Essential expat steps to remaining sane, whether you are moving across town, across the country or across the world, from a fellow trailing spouse.
Anne Egros's insight:

Goood stuff, and I totally agree with the article there :

For those who are currently screaming the words “I’m not moving to XXX just to mix with expats” at their screens, please don’t misunderstand me.

I expect you all to get out there and meet whoever your heart desires, but take it from me, settling in and getting established is a whole heap easier with someone to point you in the right direction, who not only understands your language, but also where you are coming from.

Russian Girls vs. British Girls | English in Russia

Russian Girls vs. British Girls | English in Russia | Life in Moscow From an Expat Perspective | Scoop.it
English blogger in Moscow Liam McGrath shares his ideas about women in Russia and the West...
Anne Egros's insight:

I think it is a good point that Russian women, unlike the  American ones, are not interested in fighting for their rights, feminism or political correctness.

In Russsia men are suppose to hold doors and pay for dinners or bars and it is not considered sexist. On that part I agree.

Regarding specific taste for Russian women it really a personal view. When I was in Tokyo, many westerners were attracted by Japanese girls.

Often intercultural marriages may face specific challlenges especially when babies come.
