If you're visiting or planning a move to Rio de Janeiro knowing the best places to get what you want can make life so much easier. This is a great guide from the Rio Times on the best places to buy or eat organic food.
We're very lucky in Saquarema, we're surrounded, like many small Brazilian towns, with a plentiful supply of local producers of which we are one. We personally grow oranges, tangerines, limes, bananas, coconuts, avocados, tomatoes, cashew, melons, mangoes, pineapples, lots of different Brazilian fruits and many vegetables. On saying that I will be taking a look at some of these option when I'm next in Rio.
I eat much better whilst in Saquarema than the UK because there simply isn't any ready meals and convenience products that are jammed packed with processed rubbish so I'm never tempted to be lazy and eat crappy food. Of course it's coming and small product lines are appearing, steak/chicken in various sauces and other rubbish but I shall not be tempted (I hope) and shall continue cooking good home made organic food.
Camping has quickly become a viable alternative as Brazil's hotels, pousadas, and hostels increase prices for the World Cup time frame. When using hostel booker, I tried several dates while the games will be held in Rio de Janeiro.

I was completely disgusted with this biased article from the Daily Mail. It's quite clear that the author has never set foot in Brazil and doesn't know much about the protests. Disgraceful reporting that can cloud a lot of opinions, shame on the Daily Mail.
As readers of my blog know I am a great lover of the air pass tickets, they allow you to purchase up-to nine internal flights in Brazil or even a pass for flights throughout South America at much reduced price, fantastic if you want to see a lot of such a huge country/ continent. So imagine my dismay at finding out that they are not allowing the tickets in the World Cup period, utter greed. I'm afraid that theres going to be an awful lot of very unhappy people in Brazil in the World Cup period due to way some companies (read as most) are gearing up to rip off consumers as much as possible, it's such a wasted opportunity to showcase how wonderful a holiday destination Brazil is and will just leave all travellers with a very bitter taste at the end of the Cup, so sad.
This is what the companies normally offer.

So has the shopping in Brazil suddenly get better or is it just the bad geography of CNN?
CNN were covering the story on the giant hornets that are causing serious problems and have even led to some deaths in China When they blundered and confused many on Monday by getting their world maps completely wrong.
