This Guy Decided To Dance On The Street, What Happened Next Will Make Your Day

This Guy Decided To Dance On The Street, What Happened Next Will Make Your Day | Life... | Scoop.it
Ben Aaron, a producer and presenter for NBC was shooting on a street in New York when he saw a stranger that made his day. Ben saw that this guy was dancing, walking and exploring the city at the same time, a missing puzzle for Ben’s next project. So, he decided to get everyone else…
Boog's insight:

It made me smile and want to take off for NYC with music in my ears… Not sure it would feel the same in the village ;o)

Ipad, Party Pad, Little Owl Pad

Ipad, Party Pad, Little Owl Pad | Life... | Scoop.it

Imagine for a moment, sunshine (try hard) on acres of natural grassland, meadow and forest. Are you seeing the buttercups and swaying grasses and listening to the tinkle of water through forest streams? Or do you have your earphones embedded whilst catching up with Breaking Bad on the iPad, crammed alongside other skinny latte supping deadline chasers? Technology has become essential, keeping up with the other side of the world, friends, family and a million unknowns on social platforms… life?

But I am troubled by us taking our eye off the meadow because I fear that we will turn around one day and find ourselves surrounded with nothing more than human habitat and internet connection.

How we shape our future governs the allowance to encourage unnatural, losing species who once formed part of THE most natural of naturals.

In exploring further the reasons why Barn Owl for instance, have appeared to be joining the long list of failing species, there is much resistance to question, protection of who is allowed to join the project, protection of already watched 'pockets' and almost an ownership of the right to be involved.

Add to this the journey into environment suitable and perfect to support a family of owls, and public perception of how much trouble conservation causes the wealthy landowning few is frankly extraordinarily confusing. Do you have an environmental responsibility by putting up fun houses, swimming pools and party pads on environment once enriched with natural balance and species who had existed there for hundreds of years prior to the partying human invasion?

Gonna miss it all when it is gone and putting it back is never quite the same as looking after it in the first place.  "Prevention is better than Cure" the motto of nursing back in the good old days...

Boog's insight:

Just had to get it off my chest...

Rakuten named as biggest online market for ivory and whale meat | Life... | Scoop.it
Japanese online retailer Rakuten - who owns Play.com in the UK - has been named as the operator of the world's biggest marketplace for elephant ivory and whale meat. The naming comes on the release of a new report by the Environment Investigation Agency (EIA) called “Blood e-Commerce: Rakuten

Via PotbiC
Boog's insight:

Are there Japanese vegetarians? seems human lust for all things, all ways, whenever we want it, has no bounds, one look at the Rakuten site and you can feel the intrigue about what you might find and how some of the descriptions get to sound so... freaky!

Floods leave farms underwater, and farmers under pressure

Floods leave farms underwater, and farmers under pressure | Life... | Scoop.it
I’ve been talking to farmers all this week, many of whom have had their fields underwater for a month or more.
Boog's insight:
Impact is bad for the human species and far worse for those uninsured wildlife who cling to existence and cannot avoid such conditions, however, perhaps a foul winter will allow a pleasant spring and even a good summer to follow in its wake? Recovery for some?

James Michael Sama tips you off on the traps that happy couples have learned to avoid.
Boog's insight:
We all long for the peace of a shared place, without stress or question. James has identified what happens when perfection of relationship is close to perfect, yet there are always times when we question who we are and what else we want to achieve in life, this is a contributing factor that can often tip that peace balance a little.

Why the US pork industry wants to shut down the debate over pig crates | Life... | Scoop.it
Hog farmers and industry bodies want retailers, brands and shoppers to stop raising questions about gestation crates, writes Marc Gunther
Boog's insight:
I confess to being unaware of gestation crate practice, but too many people want the packaged end result. Frankly I heart Oscar Mayer, but it is intolerable practise that needs to be kept in the eye of discussion.

P for Psoriasis, the ultimate private members club...

P for Psoriasis, the ultimate private members club... | Life... | Scoop.it

Do Pheasant get Psoriasis? Of course not silly, it just happens to the angels of the earth, that is how we know how special we are… we flake!

Boog's insight:

Today, a reach out to all those who are familiar with the big P...

Psoriasis of course, that bloody irritating skin thing that everyone double glimpses at and the common cause of detritus, a wonderful word meaning flaky bits!!

For most, there is a long journey of resolve, heaps of creams, potions and rubs, soaks, drops, sprays… then of course there is tar! woohoo, any idea just how nice the eau-de-tar really is, when friends think you have just travelled via a new road somewhere!

Not for the faint hearted, this physical thing can be distressing, depressing and hopelessly untreatable. Most of us P club members need, ambient weather, zero stress, relaxation, long warm holidays and total happiness 24/7, so without any reality amongst that little wish list, we deal with 'normal' life as every other does, except we have more skin cells that reproduce a little quicker.

Down side is mostly how it makes us feel among others. Up side is, we are alive and have nothing that stops us from being who we want to be.

There are days I just want to cry, but on those days, I restock my treatment box, jump in a deep dead sea salt bath, listen to Elbow and get on with it.

That said, some days I just want to reach out and feel that comfort that ONLY others in the P club can understand, that glimpse of understanding that we all need sometimes and that shared sigh of resignation  of P club pro's.

After 40 odd years of flake, it feels that I should be offering something in return for the expert qualification I did not particularly want, so I stray, throughout woodland, across fields, soaking up environmental richness, then tell others that we should be saving an owl?

Sometimes even I ask myself WTF...

Boog's insight:
change.org has a petition that needs your help. My suggestion is not to watch this video, it is suitably distressing and painfully unnecessary, yet it is real. The Uk today appears to be supporting this practice which can be considered nothing short of murderous cruelty, yet as usual, what we don't see we don't fret about. there are lines to be drawn on this failing planet of ours, cruelty is top of the list. I like eating meat, but am ashamed of what we are doing...

How we are poisoning our wildlife

How we are poisoning our wildlife | Life... | Scoop.it
Scientists have discovered alarming levels of rat poisons in British wildlife. Barn owls, polecats, foxes, weasels, stoats, red kites and even some domestic cats and dogs have all been affected.
Boog's insight:
This is old news, yet today almost all of the Barn Owls will carry a level of poisoning. Is this acceptable? We do need to take it on board because understanding why is the only way we can make informed choice about how to protect instead of persecute...
