Founder of Libya Alhurra TV Mohammad Nabbous Receives Lyons Award November 18, 2011 CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Nieman Fellows at Harvard University have selected Mohammed “Mo” Nabbous, founder of Libya Alhurra TV, as this year’s recipient of the Louis M. Lyons Award for Conscience and Integrity in Journalism. Nabbous, who was killed in March, was chosen as a representative of all those who courageously worked to disseminate news during the Arab Spring. In doing so, they helped further the cause of a free press. In their citation, the Nieman Fellows stated: “Mohammed ‘Mo’ Nabbous and others like him, at great personal risk, helped report the facts and spread the news of the 2011 Arab Spring uprisings.”

SATURDAY, MAY 5, 2012 11500 BC Even though no evidence of #Atlantis or 12k yr old #Sphinx, 10000BC did have #Jericho #Göbekli #Tepe 10,000 BC Catastrophism is a dirty word in archaeology. But despite not being liked, it remains a fact that civilisations have abruptly ended. And the biggest of all catastrophes seems to have occurred ca. 12,000 years ago. New research, however, might argue in favour of Velikovskian – if not Atlantean? – ideas. Philip Coppens For centuries, the greatest catastrophe known to Western Europeans was the biblical Deluge: a giant flood, claimed to have been brought on by God himself, to wash away the sin of Mankind and start anew. Working back from the few historical dates that are known to anchor the biblical stories, this Deluge has been dated to ca. 2300 BC. But even though biblical chronology is able to shed light on the timeframe, it remains a fact that at that time or any other within a time span of even a few thousands of years, there is no archaeological or geological evidence for such a cataclysm – neither local to the Middle East or on a global scale. In fact, archaeology and historical records have made it apparent that Mankind as a whole has had “clean sailing” for at least ten millennia.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 6, 2011 Libya Aug6 2011 BirAlGhanam Falls @sutthipolลั๊น ละ ลา ™ Rebels in western Libyan town claim victory over Gadhafi forces: Libyan rebel forces gained ground against ruler...http://bit.ly/qHJdtK Near Bir Al-Ghanam, Libya (CNN) -- Libyan rebel forces gained ground against ruler Moammar Gadhafi's forces Saturday after a massive offensive in the western town of Bir Al-Ghanam. Hundreds of opposition members joined in the battle, which lasted several hours. Grad rockets and gunfire were exchanged from both sides, and rebels took on Gadhafi fighters from three fronts. Doctors at a makeshift clinic said two people had died, and 20 were injured -- some seriously. Rebel fighters said Gadhafi's forces had retreated from Bir Al-Ghanam and claimed victory over the town. Bir Al-Ghanam is about 85 kilometers from the capital city of Tripoli. Capturing the town is significant because not much else stands in the way between Bir Al-Ghanam and the Libyan coastline -- where Tripoli is situated. For months, rebel fighters -- who have controlled the eastern city of Benghazi and other areas -- have been trying to move closer toward Tripoli, in the west. They are seeking the ouster of Gadhafi, who has ruled Libya for 42 years. Map July 28

Cave Art north and west of Sabha in the desert show water animals? That could have only existed there at the end of the ice age when no people hostorically should have lived there yet The Sahara is the home of the world’s largest collection of prehistoric cave art sites: some 100,000 sites
Libya's Tripoli's Assaraya Alhamra Museum houses a wonderful collection of prehistoric artifacts and treasures from the Sahara and there is no doubt that the museum deserves a visit. But serious explorers of ancient civilizations will benefit greatly from the museums of the Sahara herself - a place well-known to the Berber Nasamons of ancient Libya, from whom Herodotus appears to have had hurriedly derived his descriptions of this enigmatic interior of Libya. The Sahara is the home of the world’s largest collection of prehistoric cave art sites: some 100,000 sites; each is a unique gallery of prehistoric drawings, paintings and engravings, telling different stories about life in the past. One of the prehistoric paintings discovered by Henri Lhote, that of a human figure, about 18 feet tall, holds the record of being the largest prehistoric painting in the world. Professor Mori alone had identified more than 1400 prehistoric art sites. Among his famous discoveries was a Libyan mummy of a child (Gallery 4 of Assaraya Museum), thought to be at least 5400 years old. The complete mummy of a small boy, preserved in a good condition using a sophisticated and advanced technique of mummification, was found in a place called Wan Muhuggiag.
