États-Unis : le troisième âge, grand lecteur, à l'heure du 2.0

Le site américain Grandparents.com a dévoilé les résultats d'une étude menée par Pew Internet et American Life Project : d'après ceux-ci, plus de la moitié (53 %) des adultes âgés de 65 ans et plus sont désormais connectés à Internet, soit une hausse de 13 % en un peu moins d'un an. C'est un marché prometteur qui se constitue pour les éditeurs de livres numériques.

EduTablettes-86 sera piloté par la Cité des Savoirs et réunit plusieurs partenaires. L’objectif est de créer un Living Lab (un laboratoire d’observation des usages). les particpants iront sur le terrain et observeront notamment des classes de l’école élémentaire et de collège. In 2008 at the CAUT LIbrarians conference in Ottawa, Toni Samek spoke about how librarians – the people who fight for freedom of expression for society as a whole – rarely enjoy freedom of expression for society as a whole – rarely enjoy freedom of expression themselves. Her talk focused on workplace speech but the experience of several active and retired librarians at the recent Canadian Librarian Association (CLA) conference in Ottawa went beyond restrictions on workplace speech; librarians were silenced at their own conference for trying to raise awareness of the current challenges to Library and Archives (LAC.)
