Last year, the audiobook giant Audible.com (a subsidiary of Amazon), made the decision to make available free of charge a recording of actor Samuel L. Jackson reading the virally-popular Adam Mansbach book “Go the F--- to Sleep.” Jackson’s slightly malevolent voice was perfect for this children’s book that no child should ever read. The six-minute recording became one of the most popular downloads on the site and currently has some 7,000 reviews, most of them exceedingly favorable. At this point, a light bulb must have gone off in Audible’s corporate headquarters: More people will listen to books if those books are read by people they see in the movies. Thus, today, Audible reveals the A-list (get it?), a collection of books read by celebrities.
