Rashmi Moghe's comment, June 16, 2013 4:24 AM
Pennsylvania School Librarians Association , analysed their system of school assessment (PSSA)for reading , writing, math and science achievement for their students and their research showed that having a school librarian affected writing scores more than reading scores, indicating writing scores may be better indicator or students understanding of the 21st century learner and Pennsylvania/Common Core Standards.
PSSA maintains separate test scores for subgroups of students who are economically disadvantaged, black, Hispanic and have individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Their school librarians played a major role in closing the achievement gap and hence the findings showed, that these students benefitted proportionally more than other students. This research was made, when the budget cuts were affecting the school libraries.

A new infographic released at Educause 2013 by Jones eGlobal Library, a provider of online library solutions, draws on a variety of research from sources such as Pew and the College Board to paint a clearer picture of the important role librarians play in their institutions.

This article doesn't say much about comprehending the text, rather discusses the hassle of using an ebook,  like one needs to keep the device charged, or have a charger, plug in items readily available etc.. but one of the interesting aspect is how much the reader retains with the print version as compared to the electronic version.

Download, embed and share The Social Librarian infographic. The social librarian is enmeshed in the fabric of the Internet of Things as curator, educator, filter and beacon.

"Social today means so much more than sending a tweet or posting to Facebook. The social librarian is enmeshed in the fabric of the Internet of Things as curator, educator, filter and beacon. In this complex, dynamic and demanding environment, librarians are extending themselves and empowering library users.

In recognition of this, Elsevier's Library Connect Newsletter (@library_connect) and Joe Murphy (@libraryfuture), Librarian & Technology Analyst/Trend Spotter, offer up a visual portrait of The Social Librarian, and invite you to download and post, share on your social streams, and discuss with your library stakeholders.

I would have used "Gathering" instead of Google for the letter G. As much as I do not teach students to exclude Google as a search tool, I insist they use other databases (Nettrekker, Discovery Ed, & other encyclopedias) first.
