Fox's Allen West Attacks Decorated Vet Rep. Tammy Duckworth: I "Don't Know Where Her Loyalties Lie"

Fox's Allen West Attacks Decorated Vet Rep. Tammy Duckworth: I "Don't Know Where Her Loyalties Lie" | Liberal Political thoughts | Scoop.it

ERIC HANANOKI

Fox News contributor Allen West questioned the "loyalties" of decorated veteran and Illinois Rep. Tammy Duckworth for serving with her fellow Democrats on the Benghazi select committee.

West attacked the recently announced Democratic members of the recently formed committee for dismissing the importance of Benghazi during an appearance on the May 21 broadcast of The Janet Mefferd Show.

West remarked of Duckworth: "I just don't know where her loyalties lie. You know, for her to have been a veteran, a wounded warrior for the United States Army, she should know that this is not the right thing. And hopefully, you know, she will remember the oath of office that she took as an Army officer and not the allegiance I guess she believes she has to the liberal progressives of the Democrat Party."

The remarkable story of Margaret Dickson illustrates how church and state often worked hand in hand to create untold suffering for women, especially when it came to reproductive issues. Fortunately for all us, we live in a much more enlightened age.

Mitt Romney and the Eye of the Needle | Nomadic Politics

Mitt Romney and the Eye of the Needle | Nomadic Politics | Liberal Political thoughts | Scoop.it

During the Republican debate last year, Romney was asked whether he believed in the Bible as the Word of God. He hesitated and finally said he did.

As a man who claims to be Christian- or as close as any Mormon can get to Christianity- he must know how Jesus felt about great wealth. Mark 10:25, Luke 18:25 and Matthew 19:24 all have Jesus saying the same thing:

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Jesus had a lot more to say to the 1% and none of it is very encouraging.

Chosen Defender of the Indefensible: Romney and the 2012 Republican Platform | Nomadic Politics | Liberal Political thoughts | Scoop.it

After what seems like an eternity, with a campaign filled with endless debates involving a fairly unimpressive line-up of Republican candidates, it still comes as a shock that this man, Mitt Romney, is the best that the Republican party could come up.

When the candidate's wife has to come before the convention as part of a charm offensive, then something has clearly gone wrong with the selection process.

Who's next on the rostrum, his great-aunt June and her bridge partner?

Romney's unyielding ambition to be president at any cost has finally landed him in what can only be an truly awkward position: attempting to defend the indefensible Republican platform for 2012.

The Incredible Hoax of Reaganomics- Trickle-Down 2/4 | Nomadic Politics

The Incredible Hoax of Reaganomics- Trickle-Down 2/4 | Nomadic Politics | Liberal Political thoughts | Scoop.it

William Jennings Bryan is one of those people who was quite popular in his time but has now been largely consigned to unread records. However, not unlike his contemporary, Teddy Roosevelt, Bryan’s words and thoughts, once considered fixed to a particular time and particular circumstance of American history, seem to be suddenly just as apt in our own times. He said over a hundred years ago:

There are two ideas of government. There are those who believe that if you just legislate to make the well-to-do prosperous, that their prosperity will leak through on those below. The Democratic idea has been that if you legislate to make the masses prosperous, their prosperity will find its way up and through every class that rests upon it.

Though supply-side was sold the American public as some new-fangled economic theory, it was hardly revolutionary. Only the names were revised but the same bill of goods was sold to a gullible public by Ronald Reagan.

Why The GOP Can't Be Trusted with Foreign Policy 1/3 | Nomadic Politics | Liberal Political thoughts | Scoop.it
Lost in Paul Ryan’s flagrant dishonesty and Romney’s sticky-gooey sing-song speech, the incoherent silliness of Clint’s burlesque with an empty chair, there was an appearance that might have gone unnoticed at the Republican convention.

His was a familiar face- a bit too familiar, actually: Arizona senator and 2008 Republican presidential candidate John McCain. Whoever decided that McCain’s appearance at the convention would enhance Mitt Romney’s paltry foreign policy credentials should probably defect to the Obama campaign before somebody catches on.
