Jeroen Boon's insight:

Connectivism is a learning theory for the digital age. Learning has changed over the last several decades. The theories of behaviourism, cognitivism, and constructivism provide an effect view of learning in many environments. They fall short, however, when learning moves into informal, networked, technology-enabled arena.

They jury is still out on what schools of the future will consider core knowledge. What is certain is student-centered and relevant learning. More than a simple trend, personalized learning points to better student-teacher relationships and personal knowledge profiles. Technology can do a lot but dialogue and constructivism are here to stay.

In a world where content is increasingly cheap and only great thinkers can distinguish themselves, will we see students becoming master curators of other people's content instead of creating it themselves?

Jamie Ruppert's curator insight, July 8, 10:12 AM

Technology is a total game changer for universities. Universities will become content curators who collect fees on the content created by it's professors.

Robin Good's comment, July 8, 10:31 AM
@Gilbert Faure au nom de l'ASSIM: a few are, many not yet. But don't worry, if they are investing in planning for a sustainable future, not created only at the expense of paying students, they'll figure it out by themselves pretty soon.

Peer Learning Handbook | Peeragogy.org

"The editors of the Peeragogy Handbook are delighted to announce that the revised, second edition of the Handbook (“Version 2″) will be published on Public Domain Day 2014 (1 Jan. ’14). The Handbook is the world’s first book to present Peeragogy, a synthesis of techniques for collaborative learning and collaborative work. Itself the result of the techniques it presents, this version features a new Foreword from the Internet pioneer and collaboration thinker, Stanford University educator, and founding editor of the Handbook, Howard Rheingold.

The Handbook has drawn praise from leading Peer-to-Peer theorist Michel Bauwens, Research Director of the Free/Libre Open Knowledge Society (a project at the Instituto de Altos Estudios Nacionales (IAEN) national university in Ecuador, with support of the Ecuadorian Ministry of Human Resource and Knowledge): “Rheingold and a great team of collaborators have preceded the rest of humanity in exploring the new dynamics of technologically-enhanced peer learning,” said Bauwens." -- From Source: http://peeragogy.org

Lewis Mumford tells us, “The city is a fact in nature, like a cave, a run of mackerel or an ant-heap. But it is also a conscious work of art, and it holds within its communal framework many simpler and more personal forms of art. Mind takes form in the city; and in turn, urban forms condition mind”... but....

Ferananda's curator insight, March 25, 5:30 PM

Reading this pdf was very inspiring to bring words into the new stories that will allow us to transform one of the major systems that will affect all the rest: our economy.

David Korten says:

Any discussion of a New Economy properly begins
with the obvious truth: Without nature, there are no
people. The Living Universe and Earth Community
provide the underlying frame for the New Story for a
New Economy.

He carefully goes through morals and science and the main stories and narratives that have influenced the design of our social systems. He then tells the story of 'the Living Universe' and the interconnectedness, inter-relatedness of all which integrates the one and the many, agency and communion, sovereignty and accountability.  Beautiful and essential work.
