La balise d’URL canonique : pour réduire les contenus dupliqués

Le problème des contenus dupliqués (duplicate content) est un des sujets les plus récurrents dans le domaine du référencement : il y a d'ailleurs beaucoup d'incompréhensions sur ce sujet mais ceci fera l'objet d'un autre article. Aujourd'hui, nous allons analyser la nouvelle proposition commune de Google, Yahoo et Bing pour essayer de résoudre les problèmes de contenus dupliqués (à l'intérieur d'un site) : la balise spéciale link rel=canonical qui décrit l'URL canonique d'une page (c'est-à-dire son URL officielle).

It is not a new topic, it has been discussed for years. We've probably covered it here a few times before. But since SEO and Google's algorithms change over the years, it is good to revisit the topic.
The question is, if you want to rank for [blue widgets] and you are starting a new site, should you go with a domain name that matches the keyword phrase, i.e. bluewidgets.com or should you go with a branded domain such as somerandomdomain.com?

For some reason, I thought that the past few months had been kind of quiet on the research front, so when I started this post, I thought it would be one of my shortest roundups yet. I was pleasantly surprised to watch it grow to become one of the longest!

There are some great case studies here, of both large and small sites, which I love to see. There’s also some truly excellent debate about responsive design and the mobile web, sparked by a post from Jakob Nielsen last spring, as well as some good stuff about the browser wars and third-party content. So enough with the intro. Let’s get into it.

jwerty - Awesome handling of keyboard events

jwerty is a JS lib which allows you to bind, fire and assert key combination strings against elements and events. It normalises the poor std api into something easy to use and clear.

jwerty is a small library, weighing in at around 1.5kb bytes minified and gzipped (~3kb minified). jwerty has no dependencies, but is compatible with jQuery, Zepto or Ender if you include those packages alongside it.
