Language by the Book, but the Book Is Evolving

Language by the Book, but the Book Is Evolving | Learning on the Fly | Scoop.it

In our own impatient age, the Oxford English Dictionary is touch-typing toward a third edition, with 619,000 words defined so far, online updates every three months and a perma-gush of digital data to sort through. Graybeards are scarce today at its open-plan office, just earnest editors frowning at flat screens, occasionally whispering to their neighbors. For all the words here, few are spoken aloud.

How to Get High-Quality Student Work in PBL

How to Get High-Quality Student Work in PBL | Learning on the Fly | Scoop.it

This is a common concern of teachers who are new to project-based learning. Things can appear to be going smoothly -- students have been engaged by the project, they've been learning content and skills, they've been busy and meeting deadlines -- but their thinking is not as in-depth and their final products not as polished as they should be. If this is your experience, it's time to ask yourself some questions:

Ashleigh Sweetman's curator insight, February 20, 8:42 AM

I loved this Edutopia article! It answered many of the questions I have as a future teacher about project-based learning. I am really interested in how to find out whether or not the students are engaged in the project. If they are not engaged, how do teachers alter their projects to make all students engaged?  I feel that project-based learning is extremely beneficial for students inside and outside of the classroom.  This article will be really helpful in my future classroom when I begin to have trouble managing my students' project-based learning.
