"Today, there is a very exiting announcement from our friends at Kodable!

They have created something that we will all love.....KodableSync.

Over the weekend, I spoke with my friend Grechen, who created Kodable.  She shared,

"With Kodable Sync you’ll be able to create student profiles that sync student progress on any iPad and then see how far they’ve gotten in the game. Teachers will be able to see how many times students attempted a level, how well they did, what concepts they’re mastering, etc.  "

Unleashing Creativity: Greg Kulowiec App Smashing – from Beth Holland | Leading Change in Changing Times | Learning with iPads- it's elementary | Scoop.it

"Greg Kulowiec begins his session by asking, “Why limit our students to one tool at one time?” With App Smashing, students can create content with a variety of apps and then publish it to the web – don’t let content ”die on your iPad.”

The general concept between App Smashing is merging content from a variety of apps. Greg likes the word App Smash, but Lisa Johnson (@techchef4u) calls it App Synergy."

"It's hard to contain my excitement and enthusiasm when it comes to Guided Reading and having a 1:1 classroom. Mastery of district curriculum and essential objectives is what it is all about. I now have unlimited opportunities for students in my classroom.  Our guided reading block is every afternoon for an hour.  Differentiation of instruction, individualized and small group instruction, and student engagement happens at its best on a daily basis! I feel I am meeting all students' instructional needs each day."

"As a working parent, sometimes it is difficult to sign up for volunteer dates. So, when I have the chance to see what's happening inside the class or on field trips, I treasure those moments. As a teacher, I've found that the more I share with parents, the less they tend to question. When they feel like they are an active part of their child's learning experience, they are also more able to help with specific needs their child may require since they have an idea of what is going on in the classroom."

App Smashing - What are your favourites? - Edutopia

App Smashing - What are your favourites? - Edutopia | Learning with iPads- it's elementary | Scoop.it

"So I’ve been playing around with a little bit of App Smashing in my classroom – or App Synergy as it is sometimes called. I just like the smashing part – it must be the cave man in me. Anyway, App Smashing is when you use more than one app to produce a quality final product – it’s when you combine the different capabilities of apps to make something even more impressive than something that is housed entirely within one app. I can’t lay claim to the name, App Smashing – that belongs, as far as I can work out, to fellow ADE Greg Kulowiec, who defined App Smashing as: 'The process of using multiple apps in conjunction with one another to complete a final task or project’. Check out Greg’s website for more information about it."

Free Technology for Teachers: Free Collaborative Video Creation with iPads | Learning with iPads- it's elementary | Scoop.it

"Publishing student video that is created with iPads can be a challenging process, especially with younger students. Even schools that are Google Apps typically decide to turn off YouTube uploads to the student accounts. However, with the use of a handful of free applications, students can create video content on iPad, share their creation with a teacher, and then have the teacher upload to their YouTube channel or a class YouTube channel. Augmented Reality that’s “Real” and Focused on Learning - Langwitches Blog | Learning with iPads- it's elementary | Scoop.it

"Augmented Reality allows you to expand the experience of the real world with information, video, sound, GPS data, and so on. If well utilized, it can be much more than just another cool tech thing… You will see below an example of how Augmented Reality was used to expand the experience of visitors to our school’s Art Exhibit. As students had to reflect on and verbalize their artistic choices, an augmented reality layer was created for viewers of the exhibit. In the process, students were excited about sharing with an authentic audience and had to really recall and reflect. It created a hyperlinked reality that enabled amplification of the viewers’ learning experience that was much more engaging than text."
