6 Days and 78 Resources for Digital Literacy Internet Safety

6 Days and 78 Resources for Digital Literacy Internet Safety | learning21andbeyond | Scoop.it

"Internet Safety and Digital Citizenship are important topics ... it is so integral to what our kids do while they are at school.  Whether or not you have a 1:1 program, these are topics that shouldn’t be overlooked!  Don’t assume that because your students are fairly savvy when it comes to learning technology, that they will automatically pick up on digital literacy...it is essential that parents learn about digital literacy so that they can echo and enforce good technology use at home"

It is equally and perhaps more important to make sure rules are in place and followed up on. Education is part of the long-term solution and must be ongoing, but it cannot be the only part.

Nancy E Radler's curator insight, September 19, 2013 5:04 PM

This is also important in a school library environment.

This is an entire lesson plan for a school community that has BYOD.  It would be useful (and slightly overwhelming) for educators and parents to look through to have a better grasp on how to support their students.

A fine list, and very current too. Quite informative as the post also contains an extensive list of resources in support of the CCSS. Includes tools, resources, presentations, articles, and videos.

This pdf file looks at "differentiated instructional strategies that included digital pedagogy and 21st Century skills." There are five major sections which include:

* Content - What Students Need to Learn

* Process - How Students Learn

* Product - How Students Demonstrate what they Know

* Environment - How Learning is Structured
* Recipe - Suggestions on how to put it Together

Each of the sections above also include:

* Guiding Focus Questions

* Digital Pedagogy which relates to the specific area

* Resources which support the digital pedagogy

This is a work in progress with the goal to create a website in the future. Additional areas to be covered include "Dimensions or Learning and Literacy demands."

There are many great resources in this as well as guiding questions that you may find valuable.

PBL Series… Driving Questions: Students Uncovering Amazing Content Through Inquiry

PBL Series… Driving Questions: Students Uncovering Amazing Content Through Inquiry | learning21andbeyond | Scoop.it

"I really like Driving Questions. In fact, I like them so much more then Essential Questions. You might ask why? I think it just might be my affection for the revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. You may remember that in the revision the different levels were changed into action. In fact, I strongly believe that learning is a verb and is based on action. Take away the word “Question” and Driving is a verb loaded with action. The word “Essential” standing alone is only a word devoted to describing… a colorful but inactive adjective."

This is the first article of a series and discusses the concept of Driving Questions and how their importance in PBL. Links to additional resources are also available.
